Implementing a novel genetic counselling model using the CarePoint BRCA Assay - where precision oncology begins!
Two of the cancer patients participating in this pilot access program led by Prof Maritha Kotze and Dr Chantelle Jennifer Scott proceeded with whole genome sequencing (WGS) - an extension of the Wellness GeneScreen focused on risk and treatment stratification into inherited, lifestyle-triggered and therapy-associated pathologies. The value of the BRCA point-of-care assay was first demonstrated by Lwando Mampunye in early-stage breast cancer patients referred for the assay. It is also used in combination with the NGS Assay as presented by Dr Rika Pienaar at the User Group meeting in Spain during April 2026.
