VALEDICTORY β23
On Friday 20 October we bid a bittersweet farewell to the Matric Class of 2023. As they celebrated their valedictory it marked the end of an incredible journey and the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.
We want to extend our heartfelt thank you for the dedication and hard work these students have shown over the last five years. Each matriculant has contributed to the growth and success of The Settlers High School, and we are immensely grateful for their service.
We would also like to give a special mention to our angel Thaakir Samaai who wouldβve celebrated his valedictory with the class of 2023. The matrics honoured his life by dedicating a special seat amongst his peers so that they felt as if he was there with them. The rugby ball on the seat commemorated the sport he loved so much a d was signed by his fellow teammates who wrote special messages for his family to read. π€
As they venture into the world beyond these school walls, we have no doubt that they will carry the values and knowledge instilled here with them, making a positive impact wherever they go. Congratulations, Class of 2023, and thank you for being an essential part of our school community! ππ

MATTHEW LUKE CERF (26 May 2004- 27 September 2023)
On Wednesday 27th of September 2023, Matthew Cerf, one of our 2022 Matriculants tragically passed away after a motorbike accident.
"Matthew Cerf. Our own Peter Pan took off to Wonderland. He changed his course and to pursue acting. He kept us busy with his dreams and mischief in class. Matthew kept us happy with his smile. A pure gentleman- always making way for girls and teachers. Matthew, with his smile and twinkle in his smile and twinkle in his eyes, we will dearly miss you, our Peter Pan." - Ms. Kobie Jacobs
Matthew was a true Settlers learner who embodied the Settlers spirit of passion, was fully involved in the life of the school and served on the Shaw House Committee in 2022.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends as they navigate through this very sad time. May his soul rest in peace.
He will always be remembered.
