The story of The Settlers High School is deeply intertwined with the extraordinary career of Louisa Hall. For 42 remarkable years, she dedicated her life to education, with the last 32 spent shaping the heart of our school. As principal, she didn’t simply lead—she built a community, living our motto, Fide et Opera—by faith and by works.

Her unwavering commitment to academics, pastoral care, sport, and culture ensured every learner had the opportunity to belong and thrive. She believed in second chances, led with humility, worked alongside her staff, and inspired everyone through her actions.

Her laughter, courage, compassion, and devotion have left an enduring mark on generations of Settlers. As she retires, we bid farewell to a leader whose legacy will forever be woven into the story of The Settlers High School. 💙

ARTSCAPE YOUTH JAZZ SERIES 2026 🎶

Yesterday, The Settlers High School Jazz Band had the privilege of performing at the Artscape Youth Jazz Series Festival, one of only 11 school bands selected from across the Western Cape.

This marks our fifth year participating in the festival, and this year was especially memorable as we performed an original composition.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to support us. It was inspiring to share the stage with such incredible young talent from across Cape Town.

Special thanks to Mr Hugo Smuts, Event Coordinator & WCED Deputy Chief Education Specialist for Music, and Dr Marlene Le Roux, CEO of Artscape, for their vision and commitment to creating opportunities for young musicians, especially during Youth Month.

Raeef Davids participated in the 2025/2026 Western Cape Government Essay Writing Competition. Following the submission of an initial essay, he was selected as a finalist for the competition.
As part of the final round, he presented his essays to a panel at the Provincial Treasury for adjudication towards a bursary for tertiary education. While he unfortunately did not recieve a bursary, we are nonetheless proud of this incredible achievement!

22 May 2026, Our Shakespeare cast hit the Baxter Theatre stage 🎭✨

We performed As You Like It as a comedy and had an absolute blast bringing it to life. With 40+ schools in the mix, the energy was unreal.

William Shakespeare’s As You Like It is a pastoral comedy where exiled nobles and young lovers flee to the magical Forest of Arden. Through disguises, playful gender-bending, and mistaken identities, characters navigate romance and reconciliation, ultimately ending in multiple marriages and the restoration of the rightful ruler.

Directors: Adelia Adams and Ronique Hendeicks

Cast:
🎭Kirsten Mavanzilla as Rosalind and Ganymede
🎭Kim Florus as Ceilia and Aliena
🎭Keeghan Dreyer as Orlando

So proud of the whole drama performance group for pulling it off and a huge thank you to Ms.Jacob's for giving those who love theatre an opportunity to shine and to express themselves creatively!
