🚧 Mobile Crane Outriggers: Small Components, Massive Responsibility! 🏗️⚠️
Every lift begins with stability, and stability begins with properly deployed outriggers. Outriggers are designed to increase the crane's footprint, distribute the load evenly to the ground, and significantly reduce the risk of overturning. Even a highly experienced operator cannot compensate for poor outrigger setup.
Before every lifting operation, ensure the ground is inspected for adequate bearing capacity, fully extend all outriggers according to the manufacturer's recommendations, and place approved outrigger mats or timber pads on soft or uneven surfaces. Verify that the crane is completely level, all locking pins are secured, hydraulic cylinders are functioning correctly, and the outrigger pads are in full contact with the ground.
Never perform a lift with partially extended outriggers unless the crane load chart specifically permits it. Keep personnel away from the outrigger swing area and never stand beneath or beside an outrigger while it is extending or retracting. Continuously monitor the crane during lifting for any ground settlement, pad movement, or crane instability. If any abnormal movement is observed, stop the lift immediately and reassess the setup.
