Belhar High School This is the official page of Belhar High School The colourful history of Belhar High School stretches over the course of 37 years. The first principle Mr.

Belhar Secondary started in January 1977 as the first High school in this area. It started under the name Proteaville Senior Secondary (from the protea on the school’s coat of arms). Denzil Rabie single-handedly started the school in temporary classrooms at Erica Primary, with 21 teachers and 470 learners. In July 1977, Mr H. Engel took the reins in the big move to our present building. The school

had many difficulties under the apartheid regime but always rose above it and is still continuing to rise. In 2006 the WCED designated it one of the 10 “Arts and Culture focus schools” to be set up over the following 3 years. Following the Arts and Culture Focus learners participate in Dance, Drama, Visual Art, Design and Music. Between the love and grief of Belhar, something magical, something that attracts you, like a magnet, especially if you give up, it makes you believe in the inherent power sinking into thousands of young people encountered, as the motto of the school which has never been proved wrong: “Progressio Nisi per Diligentiam” which translates to Progress only through hard work.

DESIGN AND CREATIVE ARTS

Belhar HS is a dynamic WCED ARTS focussed and English medium school.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified educators for the following Learning areas:
• Design: Grades 10-12 and
• Creative Arts: Grades 8-9

Requirements:
• Relevant experience in teaching Grade 8 – 12
• Knowledge of the GET and FET curriculum and the ATP
• Evidence of excellent classroom management skills
• Involvement in co-curricular and extracurricular activities

• Detailed CV
• Certified copies of Identity documents
• Certified copies of qualifications, with academic transcripts
• Certified copy of SACE registration, SARS, Police Clearance
• Details of recent contactable referees

The revival of soccer as an official sporting code at Belhar High School has been a long-awaited moment for the school staff and learners alike.

Excitement and jubilation filled the air at Belhar High School as the boys' soccer team made a triumphant return to the field after a decade-long hiatus. The team played their first official matches against Bellville South High School, and the results were nothing short of spectacular.
