Theme: Seasons – Summer

This week at BabyGeeks we are learning about Summer and all the wonderful things that come with this bright and sunny season.

The children will explore:
• Warm summer weather
• Sun safety and staying cool
• Summer fruits and foods
• Outdoor fun and nature

Through stories, activities and play, our little learners will discover what makes summer such a special time of year.

We’re bringing a little Irish magic to BabyGeeks! Our kiddos are invited to come dressed in green and festive as we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day together. 💚

✨ Gold Coin Hunt
A mischievous leprechaun may be visiting our playground… The children will take part in a fun gold coin treasure hunt outdoors. Keep an eye out for a little sparkle! 🌈💰

🥝 Lucky Green Picnic
Please pack a small green snack item for your child to share.

Ideas include:
• Green grapes (halved)
• Green apples
• Cucumber sticks
• Kiwi
• Green jelly cups
• Spinach or green muffins
• Broccoli / green bites
• Green pepper slices
• Green cupcakes

Think green food colouring and lots of lucky green treats! 💚🍏

Personal Safety Awareness Talk – 13 March

We will be having an age-appropriate personal safety talk with the children to help them better understand how to stay safe and confident.

This discussion will focus on:
• Understanding safe vs unsafe situations
• Identifying trusted adults they can talk to
• Learning about body boundaries and private parts
• What to do if they feel uncomfortable or unsure

Our goal is to empower children with simple, age-appropriate knowledge to help them feel safe and supported. 💛

👀 Eye Screening at BabyGeeks

We are pleased to welcome Sister Vasti Emerton from Eye Spy Visual Screening, a partner of The PlusoptiX School Screening Programme, who will be visiting BabyGeeks to conduct vision screenings for our children.

The PlusoptiX School Screening Programme provides vision screening for children aged 5 months to 7 years, helping detect possible visual concerns such as amblyopia (“lazy eye”), which can sometimes go unnoticed and may affect classroom performance.

Screening Details:
• Cost: R210 per child
• A specialised, non-contact device will be used (similar to taking a photograph)
• Results are provided within seconds as “pass” or “refer”
• A “refer” result simply means further assessment by an eye specialist may be recommended

⚠️ Consent forms are required.
No child will be screened without signed permission. Please request a form from us if you would like your child to participate.

This Week’s Theme: My Home & Safety

This week at BabyGeeks, we will be exploring the theme “My Home & Safety.” Through fun activities and discussions, the children will learn about the importance of feeling safe at home and in their everyday environments.

We will be talking about:
• Who lives in our homes
• Safety rules at home and at school
• People who help keep us safe
• Making safe choices

Learning about safety helps our little ones feel confident, secure, and aware of the world around them.

We kindly ask that children are not dropped off before 7:00 AM. Our teachers use the early morning hours to prepare their classrooms and set up a wonderful day of learning and fun for the children.
