S.A.H.E.T.I - South African Hellenic Educational and Technical Institute - was established in 1974 by a group of founders under the leadership of Advocate George Bizos. Shaping Tomorrow's Leaders: SAHETI Student Elected to the Greek Youth Parliament

Congratulations to our student, Gabriel Protopapas, who was elected as a Youth Member of the Hellenic Parliament and participated in this year's programme, where discussions focused on "AI in Education."

The Greek Youth Parliament Educational Programme is an initiative of the Hellenic Parliament that engages secondary school students in research, teamwork, and democratic dialogue on contemporary issues, culminating in a simulation of parliamentary procedures.

Reflecting on his experience, Gabriel shared:

"Being elected as a Youth Member of the Hellenic Parliament was an unforgettable honour. Debating the future of AI in education and exchanging ideas with students from across Greece strengthened my appreciation for democracy, dialogue, and responsible leadership."

We congratulate him on this remarkable achievement and wish him every success in his future endeavours!

Θερμά συγχαρητήρια στον μαθητή μας, Γαβριήλ Πρωτόπαπα, ο οποίος εξελέγη Έφηβος Βουλευτής στη Βουλή των Ελλήνων και συμμετείχε στο εκπαιδευτικό πρόγραμμα της Βουλής των Εφήβων, μια πρωτοβουλία της Ελληνικής Βουλής που προάγει τη δημοκρατική συμμετοχή, τον διάλογο και την κριτική σκέψη των νέων.

Το φετινό θέμα ήταν «Η Τεχνητή Νοημοσύνη στην Εκπαίδευση», δίνοντας στους μαθητές την ευκαιρία να προβληματιστούν και να προτείνουν ιδέες για το μέλλον της εκπαίδευσης.

Αποτιμώντας τη συμμετοχή του στο πρόγραμμα, ο Γαβριήλ σημείωσε:

«Η εκλογή μου ως Έφηβου Βουλευτή ήταν μια μοναδική εμπειρία και μεγάλη τιμή. Η συμμετοχή στις συζητήσεις για το μέλλον της Τεχνητής Νοημοσύνης στην εκπαίδευση και η ανταλλαγή απόψεων με μαθητές από όλη την Ελλάδα ενίσχυσαν την πίστη μου στη σημασία της δημοκρατίας, του διαλόγου και της υπεύθυνης συμμετοχής στα κοινά.»

An Evening with a Springbok Rugby Legend!

Students, parents, staff and rugby enthusiasts were captivated as John Smit, the legendary captain who led South Africa to Rugby World Cup glory in 2007, shared stories from his remarkable career.

Beyond the rugby field, he gave us a glimpse into his school days, speaking about his time on the tennis courts and singing in the choir, reminding us that every great journey starts somewhere.

One of the highlights of the evening was the opportunity for our students to ask questions. In true SAHETI spirit, some of the most insightful and thought-provoking questions came from the youngest members of the audience! Questions such as "When should one focus seriously on sport?" and "Were you scared to face the Haka?" sparked honest and inspiring answers.

Thank you, John, for your humility, wisdom, and encouragement. A special thank you also to Dan, for making this special evening possible. Our students left inspired not only by the achievements of a rugby great but by the values of resilience, hard work, and passion that define true leadership.

Honouring Madiba’s Legacy 💙

Our Playschool and Pre-Primary School children proudly built a blanket pyramid with 203 donated blankets, along with countless beanies and socks, before helping load the donations for delivery.

As part of their 67 Minutes of Giving, our Primary School embraced the spirit of generosity through meaningful acts of kindness. Pupils enthusiastically packed food hampers, creating an atmosphere of excitement and purpose as they worked together, knowing that each hamper would help provide comfort and nourishment to a family in need.

Our High School continues its Mandela Day Food Drive in support of . The collection remains open until 30 July, and we encourage you to continue donating non-perishable food and essential grocery items.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has contributed. Together, we are proving that compassion and service can make a lasting difference.

SAHETI welcomes visiting professors from Greece
SAHETI School recently had the honour of hosting three
distinguished academics from Greece as part of an exciting initiative to further strengthen and enrich the teaching of the Greek language at our school: Eleni Griva, Professor of Applied Linguistics and Vice Rector of the University of Western Macedonia - Πανεπιστήμιο Δυτικής Μακεδονίας; Eleni Korosidou, Assistant Professor of Applied Linguistics, Department of Early Childhood Education, the University of Western Macedonia; and Konstantina Iliopoulou, Lecturer, the Faculty of Philosophy, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki- Αριστοτέλειο Πανεπιστήμιο Θεσσαλονίκης

During their visit, the professors engaged with teachers and learners, sharing their expertise and contributing valuable insights towards the development of a modern and meaningful Greek curriculum that will meet the needs of today’s learners while preserving our rich linguistic and cultural heritage.

We extend our sincere thanks to them for their time and commitment to Greek language education. We look forward to continuing this valuable collaboration in the future.



Η Σχολή ΣΑΧΕΤΙ υποδέχεται διακεκριμένες καθηγήτριες από την Ελλάδα

Η Σχολή ΣΑΧΕΤΙ είχε πρόσφατα την ιδιαίτερη τιμή να φιλοξενήσει τρεις διακεκριμένες ακαδημαϊκούς από την Ελλάδα, στο πλαίσιο μιας σημαντικής πρωτοβουλίας για την περαιτέρω ενίσχυση και αναβάθμιση της διδασκαλίας της ελληνικής γλώσσας στο σχολείο μας.

Οι προσκεκλημένες ήταν η Καθηγήτρια Εφαρμοσμένης Γλωσσολογίας και Αντιπρύτανης του Πανεπιστημίου Δυτικής Μακεδονίας, κ. Ελένη Γρίβα, η Επίκουρη Καθηγήτρια Εφαρμοσμένης Γλωσσολογίας του Παιδαγωγικού Τμήματος Νηπιαγωγών του Πανεπιστημίου Δυτικής Μακεδονίας, κ. Ελένη Κοροσίδου, καθώς και η κ. Κωνσταντίνα Ηλιοπούλου, Ειδικό Διδακτικό Προσωπικό της Φιλοσοφικής Σχολής του Αριστοτελείου Πανεπιστημίου Θεσσαλονίκης.

Κατά τη διάρκεια της επίσκεψής τους, οι καθηγήτριες συνεργάστηκαν με τους εκπαιδευτικούς και τους μαθητές του σχολείου μας, μοιράστηκαν την πολύτιμη επιστημονική τους γνώση και συνέβαλαν ουσιαστικά στον σχεδιασμό ενός σύγχρονου και παιδαγωγικά τεκμηριωμένου Προγράμματος Σπουδών για την ελληνική γλώσσα, το οποίο θα ανταποκρίνεται στις ανάγκες των σημερινών μαθητών, διαφυλάσσοντας παράλληλα τον πλούτο της ελληνικής γλώσσας και της πολιτιστικής μας κληρονομιάς.

Τις ευχαριστούμε θερμά για τον χρόνο που διέθεσαν και την αφοσίωσή τους στην προώθηση της ελληνικής γλώσσας και παιδείας. Προσβλέπουμε με ιδιαίτερη χαρά στη συνέχιση αυτής της πολύτιμης συνεργασίας και στο μέλλον.

Books, pajamas and hot chocolate – the perfect winter combination before mid-term break!

Our Grade 1-3 pupils had the most wonderful time celebrating Book & Pajama Day, arriving at school dressed in their coziest pajamas and bringing along their favourite books to share with friends.

The chilly weather created the perfect setting to snuggle up, enjoy captivating stories, and warm our hands with delicious cups of hot chocolate. To make the day even sweeter, everyone enjoyed a special marshmallow treat!

It was a day filled with imagination, and the simple joy of reading together—creating memories that will be treasured for years to come.
