Create an environment that is happy, safe, secure, caring, stimulating and inspiring. Instil a sense of partnership whereby everyone values and respects everyone else and supports and helps each other. I’m a firm believer that good values are very important and grace and courtesy will play a big part of our everyday routine. Basic concepts of playing with toys and then packing them away are also values that I will strive to teach your children. I will strive to promote good manners, honesty, respect and tolerance for others through role play and consistent reinforcement of good values and positive praise. Using these areas of development, I hope to allow children to explore, discover, predict, invent witness, create and do. These are many of the different ways we as educators can allow our children to learn through play. Children have the rest of their lives to work and learn, but NOW is the time to ‘play and learn’. Reading and writing comes at ‘Big’ school, let’s focus on the important things our children need to know for everyday life situations and skills. Good manners, good hygiene, sharing skills, how to deal with failure and disappointment, how to deal with success and joy, social/emotional/creative & physical development, team work, helping others, being independent, number concept, literacy knowledge, etc. These are just a few of the many things we can teach our children to do at such a young age. What I will encourage in the ‘school’ side of things, is to have a love for reading and listening to stories. I feel that Reading is the gateway to all doors – if you can read, your options are endless! All I want, is for your child to walk away from my school with fantastic values and skills that will help him/her make their way in life feeling good about themselves and to be able to progress to their full potential for entry into full time education.
