Today, we celebrate the man whose heart, vision and unwavering commitment are at the very centre of Creative Education Online. ✨

Happy Birthday to our founder, principal, mentor and all round legend, Dean Grobler ❀️‍πŸ”₯

There are people who dedicate their lives to making a difference, and then there are those who make it their life’s work to see the potential in others, especially when they struggle to see it in themselves.

His tireless commitment to making life better for others, his courage to do things differently and the genuine care he brings to everything he does has shaped not just this school, but the lives of so many who have been part of it.

Dean, from your students, team, families and the wider CEO community, thank you for the heart you pour into this special place and the people who make it what it is.

What happens when the dream changes, but the passion doesn’t? πŸŽ₯πŸ”₯

For our latest CEO Conversation Corner, Dean sat down with someone very close to home, our very own beloved facilitator Pierre

Pierre took our learners through a life that has followed anything but a straight line. From working different jobs overseas and once dreaming of becoming an animator at Pixar, to losing his job after COVID and finding himself unsure of what came next, his journey has been filled with unexpected turns, setbacks and plenty of moments when giving up felt easier.

His message to our students was simple, but important: your original plan might not work out exactly as you imagined, but that doesn’t mean the story is over.

Sometimes the path changes. Sometimes you have to begin again. And sometimes the thing waiting on the other side only happens because you chose to keep going.

Thank you, Pierre, for sharing your story so openly, and for showing our students that resilience, creativity and a willingness to back yourself can take you somewhere you never originally planned to go. πŸ’™βœ¨πŸ’š

It’s never too late to start again. πŸ“šβœ¨πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

For our latest CEO Conversation Corner, Dean chatted to Samantha Spaull, teacher at our sister primary school, The Creative Class Room, to hear about the very personal journey that led her into teaching.

Sam shared how she returned to studying later in life, while raising two young children, working and managing all the demands of family life. Instead of letting the fact that she had missed the opportunity to study when she was younger stop her, she made a new plan, enrolled for a Bachelor of Education through UNISA and took things one step at a time.

Five years later, she completed her degree cm laude!πŸ”₯πŸŽ“

Her message to our learners was an important one: success is not about having the perfect path, getting everything right the first time or achieving 90% in everything. It is about the effort you are willing to put in, the standards you set for yourself and the kind of person you choose to become along the way.

Thank you, Sam, for sharing your journey so openly and showing our students what determination, resilience and a willingness to keep learning can achieve. πŸ’šπŸŒΈ

Can you really make a living doing what you love? 🎸🎢

For our latest CEO Conversation Corner, Dean sat down with Seb Goldswain, a musician at heart who has built music into many different parts of his life and work.

From playing in a band and performing solo, to gigs, songwriting and teaching guitar, Seb spoke to our students about what life as a working musician can actually look like and the different opportunities that exist for turning musical ability into an income.

It was also a chance to look beyond the traditional idea of choosing one job or following one career path. A passion and a skill can open multiple doors, and sometimes building a livelihood means finding different ways to use what you’re good at.

For our learners, Seb’s story was another reminder that the things you genuinely love doing can be worth developing, practising and taking seriously. You never quite know where they might lead. πŸ’š

Thank you, Seb, for sharing your musical journey with us and giving our students another glimpse into what life beyond school could look like. πŸ’™πŸ€˜πŸΌπŸ”₯
