Happy World Teachers' Day!

Today we celebrate Montessori Guides everywhere, and especially our own wonderful guides at Poppy Seeds Montessori, whose quiet patience and care mean love truly grows here, every single day. 🌱

In a Montessori classroom, the teacher is called a Guide or Directress, and for good reason. Rather than standing at the front of the class, our guides observe, prepare a beautiful environment, show each child how to use the materials, and then step back so the child can discover for themselves. It is a gentle, respectful way of teaching that builds independence, confidence and a genuine love of learning.

World Teachers' Day is held every year on 5 October. It was established by UNESCO in 1994 and marks the signing of the 1966 UNESCO and International Labour Organization Recommendation on the Status of Teachers.

Marching for peace, Poppy Seeds style!

Every year, Montessori schools around the world come together to celebrate the International Day of Peace (World Peace Day). This is a United Nations observance held annually on 21 September, dedicated to strengthening the ideals of peace across every nation and community. It's one of the biggest dates on the Montessori calendar, rooted in Maria Montessori's own lifelong belief that peace begins with the child.

Today, our little ones sang the Montessori Peace Song, made their own South African flags, and marched proudly around the garden to celebrate. Tiny feet, big hearts, and so much pride in their colours!
Peace starts with our littlest citizens — and they showed up for it today. 🌍

🌸 Happy Birthday, Teacher Sharon! 🌸

Today we're celebrating one of the very best additions to our Poppyseeds family 💛

Since joining us this year, Sharon has shown exactly why we knew she would be such a special part of our team. Hard working, reliable, and so wonderfully attentive to our littlest ones, she brings a calm and capable presence that our toddlers have come to trust completely.

With over 20 years of experience with children and the added depth of being a mom and granny herself, Sharon has a natural, nurturing way with the little ones that simply cannot be taught. Her maturity and steady hand were exactly what our toddler class needed, and it shows every single day.

We are so grateful for her dedication, her heart, and the beautiful bond she's building with each child in her care 🌿✨

Special Visitors & Grandparents Day💛🌼

We celebrated the special people who love our children so big.✨

We baked with love for our guests, planted flowers together in the sunshine, and our children proudly showed their favourite classroom activities. It was a morning filled with sticky hands, proud smiles, and quality time that we will treasure.☀️

To every grandparent, auntie, uncle, family friend and special grown-up who came — thank you for being part of their story. You are so loved.🫶

Hello, Spring!🌸

Our little gardeners had the best Spring Day getting their hands dirty!👏🏽

Sitting in the sunshine, digging in the soil, and planting flowers with giggles and muddy hands was pure joy.☀️Watching the wonder on their faces as they learn that with a little care, patience and love, beautiful things grow. Just like them. 🌱

In honour of Maria Montessori’s birthday, we chose kindness in action.❤️🌱🐾

To celebrate Dr. Montessori’s legacy of compassion and care for all living things, Poppy Seeds Montessori held a charity drive for Sables Animal Rescue.🤲🏽

Our wonderful families donated bags and bags of dog food for dogs in need, and we were so grateful to welcome a special guest from Sables who taught our children about responsible pet ownership, looking after animals with love, and how we can help animals in need.🐶

Maria Montessori taught us that education is not just about learning, but about nurturing respect for all living beings. Today, our children lived that lesson with their whole hearts.🫶

Today we celebrate the founder of the Montessori method and the incredible legacy she left behind.🤲🏽
