Philippians 2:8 and 12
8 He was humble and walked the path of obedience all the way to death —
his death on the cross.
12 So then, dear friends, as you always obeyed me when I was with you, it is even more important that you obey me now while I am away from you. Keep on working with fear and trembling to complete your salvation,

- *Humility:* Jesus' example (vs 8)
- He humbled Himself
- Became obedient to the point of death (even death on a cross)
- *Obedience:* Our response (vs 12)
- Work out your salvation with fear and trembling
- God's working in you, to will and to do His good pleasure

*Deeper Dive:*

- Jesus' humility is the ultimate example for us to follow (vs 8)
- His obedience led to exaltation (vs 9-11)
- As believers, we're to work out our salvation with:
- Fear and trembling (awe and reverence for God)
- Dependence on God's working in us
- Our obedience is a response to God's work in our lives

- Don't engage in foolish discussions (2 Timothy 2:23)
- Avoid godless chatter (1 Timothy 1:6-7)
- Be wise in your speech (Ephesians 5:15-16)
3. *False Knowledge*
- Be aware of false teachings (Colossians 2:8)
- Test everything; hold on to what is good (1 Thessalonians 5:21)
- Don't be deceived by empty words (Ephesians 5:6)
