What is personal protective equipment?
Personal protective equipment, commonly described to as "PPE", is the equipment worn to reduce exposure to hazards that cause serious workplace injuries and illnesses.
Workplace injuries and illnesses may be caused by a lot of things for instance contact with chemicals, radiological, physical, electrical, mechanical, or any other hazards. Some of the PPE include things such as gloves, safety glasses, shoes, earplugs, hard hats, respirators, coveralls, vests, and full body suits.

How to ensure appropriate use of PPE equipment?
It should be carefully designed and constructed, be kept clean and in reliable shape. It should fit properly & comfortably. If the personal protective equipment does not fit properly. employers are required to provide PPE to their workers and make certain it’s used properly.

It is essential that Employers train all the workers required who are use personal protective equipment to know: When it is necessary, What kind of equipment is necessary? How to put it on properly, adjust, and to take it off. The restrictions of the equipment, Appropriate care, maintenance, and disposal of the equipment.
If PPE is to be used, there should be a PPE program implemented. This program should be addressing the hazards at hand; the selection, maintenance, and use of PPE; the training of employees; and supervising of the program to make sure its ongoing achievement.
