BREAKING NEWS: The KwaZulu-Natal Education Department has issued a directive for all schools in the province to close.

This is just hours after they opened for the 2024 academic year.

This is due to severe weather warnings.

The South African Weather Service has issued a level 5 warning for the coastal areas of KwaZulu-Natal, as well as parts of Zululand.

In the directive, the department says a number of communities have been seriously affected and some lost family members.

This has also impacted several schools the province.

The directive instructs all principals to release learners by 1 o' clock today.

These last 2 days have been so so sad. We have received so many requests from families in need. It is Heatbreaking! 🥺 Children going to school on empty stomachs with no lunch !!! 😢
Guys these are NORMAL families. They were fine and then covid or the looting or illness. We even have a family whose dad was a farmer until he was killed, then lost everything including their farm.

We REALLY need your help and without the community we cannot do this 💕

Speaking to a granny today she said she NEVER thought the day would come where they would need to ask for help as they were always the ones helping.

Please if you are in a position to help with sending non perishables with your kids to school to go into a donations box or if you want to make a financial donation, even R50 can go a long way. It really makes difference no matter how small the amount. It would be a massive blessing with whatever help you can give this charity organization 🥺
