From: EFFYC Alice Branch
To: All Students
Subject: Statement on the electricity supply challenges on campus
Date: 11 June 2026
For immediate release;

The Economic Freedom Fighters Youth Command (EFFYC) Alice Branch has noted with serious concern the ongoing electricity supply challenges affecting several student residences on campus.

It has now been approximately three days since some residences have been without electricity, while others continue to experience an unstable and poor power supply. The situation has deteriorated to the extent that essential electrical appliances such as heaters, stoves, refrigerators, and other devices are not functioning properly. This has severely inconvenienced students and negatively affected their living conditions.

We therefore call upon the University's Department of Properties and Services to urgently intervene and provide immediate solutions to this matter. Our concern is to avoid a situation where the problem worsens further, resulting in damage to students' personal property and creating unsafe living conditions within residences.

The EFFYC Alice Branch maintains that this issue must be addressed no later than tomorrow, considering that university offices do not operate during weekends. Failure to act promptly will only prolong the suffering of students and increase the risk of further complications.

Furthermore, we have mandated our deployed student leaders and representatives to continue applying pressure and engaging the relevant university authorities until a satisfactory resolution is reached.

We urge all students to remain calm, vigilant, and united while this matter is being attended to. We assure the student community that we will continue to monitor developments closely and advocate for a swift and lasting solution.

To: All Students
Subject: Notice to students regarding Supplementary Examinations
Date: 08 June 2026
For immediate release;

Revolutionary greetings to the student community. The EFFYC Alice Branch would like to urge all students to continuously check their student portals, particularly under the “Examination Timetable” section on ITS, for updates regarding supplementary examinations.

Supplementary examinations are scheduled to commence on 17 June 2026 and conclude on 26 June 2026. Students are therefore encouraged to begin preparing immediately and to remain vigilant regarding updates to their examination timetables.

If you have qualified for a supplementary examination, it will appear on your examination timetable with the indication “SUPPLEMENTARY EXAMINATION” alongside the relevant course/module. Students are advised to regularly monitor their portals, as lecturers complete marking at different times. This means that some students may receive notifications earlier than others because their results have already been processed, while other modules may still be awaiting final marking and approval.

Furthermore, while some departments or lecturers may send email notifications as reminders, this is not guaranteed for all modules. We strongly encourage students not to rely solely on email notifications. Last year, many students experienced serious challenges after waiting for emails, only to receive notifications very late some after the supplementary examination had already taken place, and others only a day before the examination due to technical glitches and delays in communication.

As such, every student has a responsibility to frequently check their ITS portal to avoid missing important examination information. We wish all students the very best in their supplementary examinations. Continue studying hard, remain focused, and give your best effort.

Yours in Revolution
