Autism - I am

Teachno Tuesday - this was a fun one.. We made our own lanterns using an empty 500ml bottle, rope, and a balloon.
We cut the bottles from top to bottom all the way around so that they can expand. Then we put the balloon inside the bottle and inflated them. The bottle expanded as the balloon grew bigger. We tied a knot in the balloon, put the cap with the string back and added some decorations. Great job kiddos.

Mindful Monday - let's breathe in... And out....

Golf day - prize giving.

On the 16th of November we had our anual golf day. We had so much fun and were blessed in abundance. Thank you to everyone who made this day special.

Wafer Wednesday - a yummy rainbow snack. We laced a pipe cleaner through fruit loops and put a marshmellow om each end. Mmmmm yummy.

Techno Tuesday - Today we made rainbows with earbuds dipped in different colours. We tied them together and with one movement, 4 lines appeared. Magic!

Mindful Monday - every Monday we see an improvement in our kids' participation in the yoga poses. Great job guys.

Foaming friday - making our own bracelets with colourful fruity puffs

Wafer Wednesday - yummy hotdogs!!! Cutting, spreading and eating.

Mindful Monday - some yoga poses done with partners. Great work.

Foaming Friday - skeleton handprints made with white paint and earbuds.
What better sensory experience than to play with paint.

Thumping Thursday - Zig Zag hoola hoop.
Our kiddies had to climb through the hoolas and zig zag for one side to the other. Everybody did really great work!!!

Wafer Wednesday - wafer pencils. Wafers, icing and chocolate chips... Easy and delicious!!!

Techno Tuesday - colour changing invisible ink. All you need is bicarbonate of soda, some warm water, hand sanitizer and turmeric. First we dipped our hands in a mixture of warm water and bicarb, then we made hand prints on paper. This should dry completely before the next step is done. We then mixed turmeric with some hand sanitizer and painter over our hand prints. Turmeric is a natural indicator that turns red in an alkaline medium. Bicarb is alkaline in nature, and will turn the turmeric paste red.

Mindful Monday - some fun new breathing exercises.

Foaming Friday - we did some tasting.... Sweet, sour, salty and best of all popping candy. There were a lot of very funny faces pulled as this is one of the most challenging sensory experiences out of all the senses for our kids. They did have a lot of fun though.

Thumping Thursday - turtle crawling.
This looks much easier than it is. You have to keep the book on your back while crawling towards a crate of balls, getting one at a time and transferring the balls to another crate. Good job guys.

Wafer Wednesday - we had great fun making chocolate covered marshmellow pops. We used kebab sticks, marshmellows, Bliss chocolate custard and sprinkles. This was such a yummy treat.

Techno Tuesday - we used ice, water, a piece of string and some salt. Because saltwater freezes at a lower temperature than pure water adding the salt makes some ice melt and absorb heat in the process. The area just around it thereby cools and freezes water molecules to the ice cube, also freezing the string on. When you lift the string you can pick up a few ice cubes at the same time.

Thumping Thursday : fitness monopoly. Great job guys. Everybody did so well, even the teachers got some exercise 😂

Wafer Wednesday : doggy paw cupcakes. Mmmm delicious.

Techno Tuesday - rocket car. We built a car using cardboard, straws, kebab sticks, bottle caps for wheels and a balloon.
We blew the balloon up and as it deflated the car moved forward.

Our first Mindful Monday for term 4. Great job guys.

Our last Thumping Thursday for this term..... We had a race while jumping on one leg (with some cheating in between). Jumping and putiing hoolas over cones. Them partners had to balance plastic balls on paper to carry it to a crate. Great job guys.

Wafer Wednesday - grape caterpillars. We used marshmellows for the head and liquorish for the eyes and ad mouth. Interesting taste combinations.

Techno Tuesday - paper rockets. Paper rockets and straws.... 1 2 3 blow, and watch your rocket fly....

Thumping Thursday - we did some balancing and walking of stilts, catching and throwing balls and even some aiming skills.

Wafer Wednesday - A favourite summer snack, fruit salad. Yummy.

Techno Tuesday - when you mix water with sugar and add food colouring the food colouring will not mix well with the water and will return to the surface. Only water and food colouring will make a complete blue mixture.

Mindful Monday - the kids are getting so good with the yoga poses and breathing exercises.

Last week's Foaming Friday - inside each captule is a hidden foamy surprise. After a few minutes in water you get your surprise.

Last week's Wafer Wednesday - marshmellow and biscuit pigs.

Wafer Wednesday - marie biscuit pigs to go with our farm theme. We used Marie biscuits, a marshmellow, pink icing and 2 chocolate covered jelly tots fornthe eyes. Yummy.

Techno Tuesday - we made our own taps using a bottle, water, a straw and a balloon. As the balloon deflates the pressure pushes the water through the straw.

Mindful Monday - yoga time.

Fieldtrip continued

On Monday we had our very first fieldtrip with our grade R and grade 1 classes. We went to Grant's dairy farm where the kids had a chance to interact with the animals and even made their own feta cheese. We played some games, fed the animals and groomed the horses.
This was truly a great experience for our kids.
