πŸ©΅πŸ’› Last week we celebrated World Down Syndrome Day πŸ©΅πŸ’›

We did this by "Rocking our Socks" and participating in various activities which were Down Syndrome themed. The activities included a group Down Syndrome Quiz, Down Syndrome Bingo as well as Down Syndrome Word Search races. πŸ’›πŸ©΅πŸ§¬πŸ§¦πŸŽ‰πŸ“ΈπŸŽ²βœοΈπŸ“š

Tintswalo Hospital staff also joined us in "Rocking their Socks" and filling the hospital with colour!

The day was enjoyed by all who participated and we truly focused on celebrating diversity, inclusion and that we are more the same than we are different!πŸŽ‰πŸ€πŸ©΅πŸ’›πŸ§¬πŸŒ

πŸ©΅πŸ’›World Down Syndrome Day πŸ’›πŸ©΅

On Saturday 21 March, we celebrate World Down Syndrome Day. To celebrate this, we invite you to join us in "Rocking your Socks" on Friday 20 March 2026, to create awareness, acceptance and promote inclusion of people with Down Syndrome in society. πŸ©΅πŸ’›πŸŒπŸ§¦ We are more the same, than we are different!🀝

Wear your funkiest, most colorful socks and let's start the conversation about acceptance and inclusion. 🧦🀝🎨Just because a pair of socks is different, doesn't mean that they can't be worn together, if we just change our attitude. πŸ’πŸ‘‹πŸ‘πŸ€ In the same way, let us celebrare that we are more the same than we are different! βœ¨οΈπŸŽ‰

Why socks? Well, a pair of socks placed heel to heel looks like a pair of chromosomes. And, Down Syndrome the most common chromosomal condition πŸ§¬πŸ’›πŸ©΅πŸ§¦

We look forward to "Rocking our Socks", together with you, where ever you might be on Friday, for our learners and all people with Down Syndrome πŸŽ‰πŸ©΅πŸ’›πŸ§¬πŸŒπŸ§¦πŸŽ¨

On Friday 5 September we, together with the rest of South Africa, celebrated the National Council of and for Persons with Disabilities' Casual Day! πŸŽŸοΈπŸ‘•πŸ©΄πŸ¦½πŸ¦―πŸ‘“πŸ©Όβ™ΎοΈ

The theme for 2025 was "Beyond the Label" and this was truly embodied at Tsakane Special School on Friday! We celebrated inclusivity and and all our different abilities with jumping castles, water slides, water balloons, a photo booth, cake, ice-cream, a hot meal and a gift bag to take home containing treats, toothpaste, a toothbrush and for the girls sanitary pads as well. πŸ’¦πŸ«§πŸŽˆπŸ°πŸ¦πŸŽπŸͺ₯πŸŽ‰πŸ“Έ

Each and every learner had a fantastic time! πŸŽŠπŸŽˆπŸ’¦πŸ’™πŸ€πŸ©΅
