We are delighted to announce that the first of 's former development, production and editing mentorship projects is about to see the light of day at festivals internationally, beginning with its World Premiere in competition at the Carthage Film Festival in Tunisia

We worked on "Fariha", a beautiful short doc, between 2020 and 2024 with director .ye, who was mentored by .film across all stages with additional production mentorship by .

What started as an idea for a song/music video grew over time into a full documentary film, thanks to the support of , , among other amazing people listed below 👇🏽.

The film tells the story of Fariha, an elderly woman who faces life’s challenges and hardships with a smile and tune. For various reasons, she was forced to give up her passion for music and singing which she had loved since childhood. Through this film, we follow her defiant re-emergence into the world of music and the artistic stage, proving that art knows no age or limits. ‘Fariha’ is a unique story of resilience, hope, and a passion that never fades, and is a story that truly deserves to be shared with the world.

هديل الصليلي ناشطة اجتماعية ومصورة وصانعة أفلام بدأت رحلتها مع الأفلام الوثائقية في برنامج قمرة “سينما من اجل التعايش”
(حكايتنا). تم تطوير فيلهما القصير "الصياد" في برنامج أكادمية قمرة للارشاد والتطوير في عام ٢٠٢٢.

Hadeel Alsulaili is a social activist, photographer and filmmaker. Started her journey with documentary filmmaking with Comra during a ‘Cinema is Made for Co-existence’ Program (Hekaytuna). Her latest short film “Fisherman” was developed during the Comra Academy Mentorship Program in 2022.

الفيلم عن علاقة فتاة بجدها في حين قررت السفر الى الصين لإكمال تعليمها ووقوفة ضدها لانه بحاجة لوجودها بجانبه

“The Fisherman” is a personal film by Hadeel Alsulaili which was developed during the Comra Academy Mentorship Program in 2022.

The film follows the relationship between a young Yemeni woman who wants to travel to China to complete her education, and her grandfather who refuses to let her go. Hadeel embarks on an emotional journey to uncover her grandfather’s hold on her ever since she was a child.

Alya Rasea is a visual creator and filmmaker who is based in Sana’a, Yemen. "Behind the Scenes" is her first short film which she began developing during the 2022 Comra Academy Mentorship Program.

"Behind The Scene" is a short poetic film in development by Alya Rasea, a project developed during the Comra Academy Mentorship Program in 2022. This short film talks about the search for identity and trying to heal past traumas.

عاصم عبد العزيز هو مخرج أفلام تجريبي ومنتج مقيم في عدن ، اليمن حاز فلمه القصير الأول (1941) على عدة جوائز وترشيحات دولية. تم تطوير فيلمه الجديد “المزهرية” على منحة التطوير من أكاديمية قمرة.

Asim Abdel Aziz is an experimental film director and producer based in Aden, Yemen. His first short film (1941) won several international awards and nominations. His latest short film in production, “The Vase”, was developed during the 2022 Comra Academy Mentorship Program and received the Comra Academy production grant.
