LAVC Speech and Debate Team The nationally ranked Los Angeles Valley College Forensics Team cordially invites you to check out our Speech and Debate program!

To get involved, enroll in COM 106 at LAVC! We travel to tournaments across the country competing against hundreds of other colleges and universities, and we have frequently placed in top honors in many national tournaments. If you are interested in joining the team, enroll in COM 106, or reach out to coaches Kevin Briancesco, Joe Faina, and Arthur Valenzuela in the Humanities building at LAVC.

The LAVC Speech & Debate Team closed out the semester with a fantastic showing at the PSCFA Fall Championship Tournament hosted by Moorpark College. See below for individual and team results.

Jessica Patterson - Junior Dramatic Interpretation, 4th Place
Gemma Sherman - Novice Dramatic Interpretation, 5th Place
Kevork Manoukian - Junior Impromptu Speaking, 1st Place
Slade Pearce - Junior Impromptu Speaking, 3rd Place

Team Overall - 3rd Place, Limited Entry Sweepstakes

While the semester may be over the team will be continuing to work throughout the Winter break as our tournament season continues toward State and Nationals in the Spring.

The LAVC Speech & Debate Team had it's first taste of competition this past weekend at the Crossman Invitational Tournament at El Camino College.

First year competitor Jessica Ann Patterson took home 2nd place in Novice Prose Interpretation and also impressed in Impromptu Speaking as well!

This past weekend the LAVC Speech and Debate Team traveled south to Cerritos College for the Tabor-Venitsky Invitational. This year's team is full of fresh faces and new experiences looking to build off a strong first semester of competition.

These fearless ladies are holding it down for Llamacorn Forensics, taking home 2nd place overall school in their division and 1st overall in Individual Events.

LAVC Speech and Debate Alumni News!

Janelle Marie (Member of the 2012-13 team) is one of the hosts of ESPN 2's new show "Now or Never." She will also star on the ESPN Deportes version of the show "Ahora Y Nunca."

In previous years, you may have seen her on the Disney channel or as a sideline reporter for Monster Jam (among many other credits). We could not be more proud of seeing how far she has come since Valley. Go Janelle!

This past weekend the LAVC Speech and Debate Team traveled to Pasadena City College. The team was at full strength for the first time this year and enjoyed much success individually, with several students advancing to their first ever final rounds.
