Join us for a celebration of Six Decades of BFSA on Thursday, February 27th! This event is open to all faculty, staff, and community members. Light refreshments will be provided.

On December 12th, 2024, we had the honor of hosting the BFSA Nyansapo Kente Robing Ceremony, which was started in the summer of 2016 to promote retention amongst undergraduate and graduate students of color and celebrate their academic accomplishments. Congratulations to the Fall 2024 Graduates on the amazing accomplishment of graduation!

On August 27th, The University of Alabama Black Faculty and Staff Association hosted a New Student Welcome Reception as a great opportunity for students to make important connections with BFSA’s student programs, other campus organizations and campus divisions who can help them thrive. UA BFSA is here to provide support, development and leadership opportunities through our programming as students acclimate to campus.

On August 1st, The University of Alabama Black Faculty and Staff Association hosted the BFSA Nyansapo Kente Robing Ceremony, which was started in the summer of 2016 to promote retention amongst undergraduate and graduate students of color and celebrate their academic accomplishments. In addition, the Kente robing ceremony provides the BSFA community an opportunity to highlight the significance of those students graduating from The University of Alabama. Congratulations from The University of Alabama Black Faculty and Staff Association on the amazing accomplishment of your upcoming graduation from The University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa.

The Nyansapo Kente Robing Ceremony was started in the summer of 2016 as an initiative to promote retention amongst undergraduate and graduate students of color and to celebrate their accomplishments. In addition, the Kente robing ceremony provides the BSFA community an opportunity to highlight the significance of those students graduating from The University of Alabama. 

Nyansapo is a Ghanaian symbol that means intelligence, ingenuity and patience.

Nyansapo will take place for the Fall 2022 Graduates and their guests in person, Thursday, Dec. 8, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. CST at the Bryant Conference Center- Sellers Auditorium. R.S.V.P. required.

UA BFSA has partnered with Miss Alabama Collegiate America, Imani Muse, for the 2022 Breast Cancer Awareness Annual Bra Drive.

This initiative began in 2017 during Breast Cancer Awareness Month to support those that are battling and/or have Championed Breast Cancer.

The Collected Bras will be donated to Sarah's Circle Women's Shelter in Chicago, Illinois, and Turning Point Domestic Violence Center in Tuscaloosa, AL.

We would love to have your support in one of two ways:
