🌍 Switzerland’s Overshoot Day - Today, 7th May 2025 🌍
If everyone on Earth lived and consumed the way we do in Switzerland, today - 7th May 2025 - would mark the end of the year. We would have already used up all the natural resources (energy, farmland, forests, grazing areas) that the planet can regenerate in a whole year.
If we continue like this, we in Switzerland would be consuming the equivalent of 2.9 Earths every year. But we only have one!🌏🔥
What can YOU do to change this - now?
You are not powerless. In fact, your voice and actions matter more than ever. Here are effective and empowering steps you can take to push for real change:
🌱 Inform Yourself & Others
Knowledge is power. Start conversations, challenge assumptions, and help others understand that “business as usual” is leading us to ecological collapse.
📝 Write to the Swiss Federal Council (Bundesrat)
Demand urgent policies for a circular economy, stricter environmental regulations, climate justice, and sustainable agriculture. Use your democratic right - Your message counts!:

📣 Take it to the streets
Join peaceful demonstrations and climate strikes. The louder we are, the harder we are to ignore. Direct democracy only works when people show up.
The date of the next global climate strike is November 14th 2025!
💪🏼 Individuals' vs. politcal/industrial actions
Although individuals' actions contribute to emissions through energy consumption, transportation, and other day-to-day activities, the magnitude of emissions generated by companies is much greater. The industrial sector, including power generation, manufacturing, and construction, account for a substantial portion of global emissions.
This is why especially the top mentioned measures are the most impactful ones you can take!
Nevertheless Your individual actions also make a difference, esp. if you motivate other people to do the same! ;-D
