We’ve been keeping track of the coastal erosion during this woolly weather. At our Collaroy site, there’s no beach left at high tide and the coastal defences are really being put to the test! In this area, the large boulder walls buried under sand dunes and native vegetation look relatively natural… until a big sea takes the sand away.

Our Stage 5 Geography students study coastal erosion at this site for their Environmental Change & Management unit. Bookings have just opened for 2026 so request your dates now!

It’s been such a busy term that our Facebook feed has been a bit neglected. Here are some of the highlights! We’ve had some balmy days surveying the rock platforms, excellent low tides for wading into the seagrass meadows, and even an opportunistic freshwater eel who became our friend for the day at Camp Coutts.

Now it’s time to catch our breaths and prepare for an even bigger Term 2! We do have limited availability, particularly for small groups, this term so if you are thinking of booking a field trip, do get in touch.

Thanks for your feedback!
Our teachers receive feedback forms after each excursion. We love to hear when we’re doing a good job, but we do actually use your feedback to make improvements to our programs too!
Over the last two years we have reviewed and refreshed all of our excursion worksheets, ironing out the wrinkles in our tried-and-true programs. We hope you are enjoying the new look.
Today’s students were the first class to use our shiny new Place & Liveability resources.

As our field studies move into full swing, the Auseco team got together to prepare ourselves by refreshing our skills and updating our delivery of some exciting new programs we’re rolling out this term.
We look forward to seeing our teachers and students out in the field!

We’ve certainly hit the ground running in 2025!
These early weeks are perfect for Year 12 excursions where students are partway through their topics and ready to leap back in. Availability is good for small classes, particularly at tidal sites like this one.

Best wishes for the holiday season to all our amazing students, teachers and staff. We hope you enjoy the break!

…and that’s a wrap for school excursions for 2024!
While we cool off with these excellent granitas, we’d like to thank all our schools, students and amazing teachers for having us on your educational journeys this year. We hope your field trips with Auseco were rich and memorable experiences and really helped embed your classroom learning.
Enjoy the summer and we look forward to seeing you again in 2025!

PICK THE TEACHER
Can you find the teacher in each of these field trip activities?
They may not end up in all the photos, but teachers are an integral part of every field trip we run. They prepare the students with background knowledge, arrange their permission notes, remind them to wear their hats, do a good deal of crowd control, and all kinds of other things. They partner with our Field Guides to make every excursion a success.
It’s World Teachers’ Day and we want to thank our wonderful teachers for everything they do. Hats off to you all!

Everyone at Auseco would like to send our best wishes to the HSC students sitting their Biology, Geography and Earth & Environmental Science exams (well, all of them in fact!) this year.
We hope your field trips have enriched your learning and provided plenty of memories inside and outside the syllabus.
Geography students: you’re sure to do excellently because you’re sitting the VERY LAST exam so there will be plenty of time to study!
All our best for wherever your path takes you.
