Introduction

My name is Atika Sultana, and I am a student of Gour Mahavidyalaya. On 24 April 2026, Thursday, I, along with some of my juniors, Bishnupriya, Krishna, and Keya, visited Sahapur GP to attend a programme organized on the occasion of Poshan Maas.

After reaching the venue, we first helped with the preparations for the programme. We decorated the place, arranged the chairs, assisted the elders, and cleaned plastic and other waste from the surroundings. We also helped prepare the trophies for the prize distribution. After completing these activities, the programme officially began.

During the programme, we listened carefully to the valuable speeches and messages shared by the speakers. We learned many useful things about nutrition, healthy food habits, and the importance of awareness in our daily lives.

At the end of the programme, we were served delicious homemade food prepared by the local aunties. We enjoyed the food together and appreciated their effort and warmth. After the programme came to an end, we left the venue with many new experiences and happy memories.

Experience

The programme was a very meaningful experience for all three of us. We learned many new things that we can apply in our everyday lives.

One of the most interesting things we learned was that even if we do not like a particular vegetable or food, we can prepare it in a different and tasty way instead of wasting it. In this way, we can make our food more enjoyable while also adding important nutrients to our diet.

We also learned the importance of teamwork and cooperation. Working together in a new environment taught us how to communicate with others, share responsibilities, and complete tasks as a team. The experience helped us become more confident and socially responsible.

Overall, the programme was not only informative but also enjoyable. It gave us an opportunity to learn outside the classroom and understand the importance of nutrition, teamwork, cleanliness, and community participation.

Benefits of the Recipes Presented

1. Hotchpotch – Rice and Lentil Dish

Hotchpotch is a simple and nutritious dish prepared mainly with rice and lentils (dal). It is a wholesome meal that can provide important nutrients such as carbohydrates and protein.

The programme also highlighted how different activities and forms of media can be used to spread awareness and a sense of patriotism among people. Such activities can encourage love for the country and develop a spirit of responsibility and sacrifice for the nation.

These activities can also contribute to several areas of life, including education, communication, entertainment, awareness-building, social development, and the development of moral values.

2. Benefits of Taro Leaves

1. Taro leaves are rich in iron, which helps support healthy haemoglobin levels in the blood.

2. They contain Vitamin A, which is important for maintaining good eye health.

3. Taro leaves are a good source of dietary fibre, which supports healthy digestion.

4. They contain antioxidants, which help support the body's natural immune system.

5. Including properly prepared taro leaves as part of a balanced diet can contribute to overall health and well-being.

Conclusion

This programme gave us much more than just information about nutrition. It gave us a chance to work with others, help the community, learn about healthy food, and understand the value of teamwork and responsibility. The experience was both educational and enjoyable, and it will remain a memorable part of our college life.
