Spring has sprung here at Henry’s Hut and what better way to start off the season with a visit from some lambs? 🐑 🐑
It was very exciting to have some spring lambs in our garden, especially when they were only a day old! We learnt how to use our kind hands to hold them carefully and we enjoyed walking around the garden with them as they explored and had some cuddles too. We are very lucky to have such a special learning opportunity to see and hear how to look after animals. By having the lambs in sparked our interest in learning about other animals on a farm too.
We have also introduced Easter with lots of different activities as well, scroll through and take a look at what we’ve been exploring … 🐣🐰🪺🌸

There have been so many people who help us in Henry’s Hut this week! We’ve had gardeners planting beautiful flowers in wellies for our gardens and the bees 🐝 🌷. There have been doctors and dentists keeping our bodies healthy and lollipop people keeping us all safe when crossing a road!

We’ve also explored different colours this week as we have celebrated St Patrick’s Day ☘️ and Red Nose Day too 🔴.

At the beginning of the month we celebrated St David’s day where the children talked about daffodils, where we see them and the colour being yellow. We had a go at pairing our own daffodils and used cutters to stamp patterns. Look at this beautiful piece of artwork 🖼️ 👀

We talked about acts of kindness to our friends and what we can do in each day to make someone smile. How we can be be helpful to others at home, nursery and our local community 👭👫👬

Happy World Book Day 2026 📚 🌍

What a beautiful day to share our favourite books and celebrate storytelling. There were many different characters arrive to tell their stories and everyone looked amazing 🤩

Henry Bear and his friends explored lots of different story inspired activities and found reading outside in the sunshine brightened everyone’s day and imaginations too ☀️

We hope everyone had a super day celebrating 📚 📖

We have had a very creative week in space, take a look and see what Henry Bear and friends have been making 👀
The Big Bears have also been focussing on getting themselves ready for outdoors, putting their own wellies and fleeces on, zipping up coats and deciding if hats and gloves are needed. The sunshine this week has brought lots of sunny smiles ☀️

The children celebrated Valentines by exploring lots of different textures such as gloop, playdough and jelly, learning how to arrange some beautiful flowers, make healthy homemade treats and lots of crafts including cards and a gift for their loved ones 💕

We had lots of discussions about who we love and why. What makes us feel happy and what might make their friends and family feel happy. We collated some beautiful responses from the children onto heart bunting to share with our families in the entrance, where it both tickled and warmed hearts 🥰

Zoom, zoom, zoom, we’re going to the moon 🌙 🚀 🐻

This week the children have been learning all about space, we’ve explored and made our own rockets using lots of colours, shapes, sizes and different materials. We have been reading ‘Whatever Next’ by Jill Murphy to spark our imaginations.

We have been singing nursery rhymes ‘5 little men in a flying saucer’ and ‘Zoom, zoom, zoom we’re going to the moon’ to build on our language and learn some new rhymes. It’s been lots of fun and we can’t wait to see where our play leads us next week. 🚀 🌍 💫

Oh no… prints in the snow… whose are these footprints and where to they go? 🐾 This week Little Bears have been focussing on mark making and fine motor skills, using different methods to create different arctic animals. They’ve also been kind friends and helped rescue animals and people from ice and foil. 🐻‍❄️ 🐧🦭

Meanwhile in Big Bears, we have had some beautiful snowflakes focussing on numbers and patterns. Children have explored a super STEM experiment, filling balloons with water and a colour to freeze and make a different shape in ice. 🎈🧊 They then used paper cloths to test what colours the water would be as they melt. It was a fantastic experiment!
We’ve continued learning about how to keep warm in the cold and how we look after our clothes, as beautifully demonstrated by one of the children practicing their ironing skills.
Finally, we have also tested our balancing skills on our path and what it feels like on our feet. We wondered what the animals feel on their paws, or hoofs too when they walk on snow or ice 🐾
