The Virus: Immigrants have been taking care of people in their homes. They are very skilled and confident. Government need to bring them on board. They are non medical workers, however they do a great job taking care of these patients. I'ts time they get recognized and dignified as front line health workers. I am one such individual. This is the time to get them involved, openly instead of using them to only pass bills and get funding. Where are these organisations that have them as members, exploiting them. Do the right thing and give them this opportunity to do what they do best, taking care of the elder, disabled and children.

Did you have a good experience as a Caregiver? Share it.
Last week, I decided to take my clients BP, which was 64/58, I immediately called 911, she was not happy and did not want to go to the hospital. It is such a good feeling to get messages from both her and her husband thanking me for saving her life. The doctors had her in ICU and life support for 4 days. She is now ready for rehab. Caregivers have a hard job, but knowing we make real differences is so rewarding.

Knowledge share: Just another way to give back to the elder and ensure they have the best care. I happen to train caregivers with and without experience with Dementia and Alzheimers. It's a great feeling to know that here are addition certified help out there that have been trained on the different stages of dementia and how to apply care for the different stages of dementia. Congratulations to the new certified Alzheimers Caregivers. You can now apply your skills, and be part of the many many great caregivers who make real differences.

Cameras in facilities: I believe that it is for their own protection. It should be clearly disclosed to the elder. They too have to be included in decisions that protect them. Their dignity should always be upheld. If we have cameras, the staff will all know and do their part as well and do it well. This is fragile cargo and should be treated well. Of course, I believe in cameras but disclose. It protects first of all the individual, then the facility and keeps everyone accountable.
