The APS Perth Branch was very excited to recently facilitate the event "Treating Trauma Where Words Fall Short". With over 70 participants, we explored the integration of mind-body approaches in trauma treatment, highlighting the growing recognition that trauma often disconnects the mind from the body. The esteemed presenters Martine Coates (Mcdougall), Simone Bishop, and Jozay Longden discussed innovative treatments such as body psychotherapy, trauma-sensitive yoga, breathwork, hypnotherapy, and psychedelic-assisted therapy.
Emphasising the need for personalised approaches, they shared insights into how these methods address the somatic aspects of trauma and enhance therapeutic outcomes. Attendees gained practical techniques and a deeper understanding of combining different models to better serve trauma-affected clients. It was a privilege to coordinate this PD event and continue giving back to the industry and community. The APS looks forward to continuing to provide more opportunities to learn and grow; aiding those in our care.
