MIT Says Music — Not Coding — Might Be the Key to Raising Smarter Kids 🎻🧠

Debating whether to enroll your child in **piano lessons or coding camp**? New MIT research might surprise you.

The study found that **learning to code** mainly activates **general-purpose brain areas** tied to logic and problem-solving — useful, yes, but limited.

**Music**, on the other hand, lights up the brain in more profound ways. Playing an instrument from a young age strengthens brain **regions tied to language, memory, and executive function** — and here’s the kicker: those benefits **last a lifetime**, even if the child stops playing later on.

While coding builds skills for today’s jobs, **music may shape a more flexible, resilient, and intelligent brain** for life.
