We are writing to inform you of a new flight route process that has been recently approved by the Italian government for incoming itineraries from the US and Germany.
Airport Arrival in Rome: Covid-tested routes
Covid-tested routes will be gradually implemented between select US and German airports and the Fiumicino airport in Rome from December onwards. Passengers on these approved routes who have tested before departure and upon arrival with negative results are not subject to the quarantine period in Italy.
Current airports that have been approved for this phase as of today are located in NY, Atlanta, Munich, and Frankfurt. Please note that this list may be modified in the coming weeks/months.
Impact on Spring 2021 Arrivals
For students who decide to book an itinerary involving a Covid-tested route, the arrival destination that would exonerate the quarantine requirement (conditional upon negative testing) does not currently include the Florence Peretola airport. Students would arrive at the approved airport, currently Rome Fiumicino, and take the train to the Florence Santa Maria Novella train station in the city center, where an FUA-AUF staff member will be available to assist arriving students with taking a taxi to our campus for FUA-AUF housing check-in or an independent housing location.
For arrivals and quarantine periods related to Florence Peretola arrival dates, standard procedures remain in place for Spring 2021 until further notice from the Italian government. We would be happy to resend the previously shared dates and details upon request.
We will continue to update partners as regulations evolve here in Italy and Europe.
