🏆 State Champions! 🏆

We are extremely proud of our amazing Year 4–6 students, who today represented SJB with such pride, compassion and determination at the RoboCup Junior Victoria Riley Rover Rescue Line State Championships, held at Genazzano College in Kew.

With 7 teams competing, our students did an incredible job, demonstrating courage, persistence, problem-solving skills and teamwork throughout the competition.

After five challenging rounds, the competition was incredibly close, with two of our SJB teams advancing to the finals from a field of 53 teams.

With the encouragement and support of all their peers, SJB Geniuses and SJB Chickens gave it their absolute all in the finals.

We are thrilled to announce that:

🥇 1st Place — SJB Chickens
🥈 2nd Place — SJB Geniuses

One of the most special moments of the day was seeing the humility and grace of our students. Throughout this Robocup journey, they have shown that nothing is impossible or out of reach. From learning to build and code the robots in just a few months, with no previous experience, to competing at a state level is phenomenal.

A special thank you also goes to the students who did not compete today but supported their peers in the lead-up to the competition. Your encouragement and team spirit played an important part in today's success.

A very big thank you to Mr Dannaoui and our dedicated staff for the time, preparation, guidance and support they provided to our students. We also extend our sincere thanks to all the families who supported their children today and throughout their RoboCup journey.

Today was a fantastic celebration of teamwork, perseverance, innovation and school spirit.

Congratulations to you all! We are incredibly proud of every one of you.

At St Josephine Bakhita , the safety of our students is at the heart of what we do.

As technology and artificial intelligence (AI) continue to develop, we are making some changes to how we share student photos on our page. You may notice fewer close-up photos of students that could potentially be reused or digitally altered.

As part of this change, we have archived past photos that feature close-up images of students. This is an important step in helping protect the privacy and safety of our students.

We will continue to celebrate the wonderful learning, achievements and experiences of our school community through photos of school activities, events, student work and everyday school life, while being mindful of student privacy and safety.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding as we work together to keep our students safe in an ever-changing digital world..

Tomorrow, we will celebrate Father’s Day at SJB, giving thanks for all those special people in our lives who take on a fatherly role.

From 8:00–9:00am, families are warmly invited into the school to spend some special time with their children, take part in some fun classroom activities, and enjoy a coffee and donut together.

At 9:00am, we will come together for a special prayer service to give thanks to God for these wonderful people in our lives.

We hope all families can make it, even if you haven’t had a chance to return your RSVP.

We look forward to seeing you in the morning! 💙

Throughout our school, a special signage journey brings our Catholic identity to life by sharing the inspiring story of St Josephine Bakhita. As students and visitors move through our learning spaces, they are invited to reflect on her remarkable faith, courage, resilience, and hope.

Here's a sneak peek inside our Stage 2A building, which is almost complete. It focuses on our motto of Courage, Humility and Forgiveness. We can't wait to share more with our school community soon!

Today it was a pleasure to welcome Senator Darmanin who presented our school community with a set of flags that we will proudly fly on our new flagpoles at the front of our school.

This generous gift is a meaningful addition to our school and reflects the values of respect, inclusion, and community that we strive to foster every day.

Thank you, Senator Darmanin, for taking the time to visit our students and staff. We truly appreciate your support and generosity and look forward to proudly displaying the flags for our whole school community to enjoy.
