When Buies Creek Academy burned down in 1900, Z.T. Kivett sold 100 acres of his own land to buy materials and pay for labor, funding the construction of Kivett Hall. His actions showed his loyalty to the school and his appreciation of education. It also established Buies Creek Academy and subsequently Campbell University on a foundation of philanthropy.

Kafi Friday’s story symbolizes how one scholarship can make a difference in not only one person’s life, but to the community (and even country) that they serve.

Once she is equipped with a doctor of pharmacy degree in 2023 from the Campbell University College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences, she hopes to return to her home country, Trinidad and Tobago and help improve access to medication and health information.
