Okinawa is about to get its first nonstop flight to mainland America.
And no other US airline is going anywhere near it.
United announced today it will fly San Francisco to Naha starting March 27, 2027.
Three flights a week, on a Boeing 777-200ER.
Right now there is no scheduled US flight to Okinawa at all — not even from Honolulu.
Americans have to connect through Tokyo, Osaka, Seoul or Taipei just to reach the island.
The route is part of United's biggest international expansion ever: 10 new cities, and 8 of them no other US carrier serves nonstop.
Okinawa is the only one in Asia.
Sapporo gets its own San Francisco flight this December too.
Will Okinawa's beaches be the next Bali for American travelers?
