Stepping away from our usual routines to focus on the road ahead.

Faculty and staff of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences recently gathered at AKU’s Link Road Campus for an Away Day dedicated to academic planning, reflection, and collaboration. The discussions centered on shaping the upcoming semester, strengthening our academic vision, and preparing meaningful capstone experiences for our first graduating cohort.

As FAS continues to grow, moments like these provide the space to think strategically, align priorities, and build the foundations for an exciting future. We look forward to translating these conversations into impactful experiences for our students in the months ahead.

Fieldnotes: Public Conversations concluded this semester’s series with an engaging session featuring Dr Pippa Virdee on “Five Thousand Years of Pakistan: The Ancient in the Modern?” 🌍

The talk invited participants to reflect on how ancient histories continue to shape present-day identities, narratives, and public imagination. Through thoughtful discussion and critical inquiry, the session encouraged audiences to rethink the relationship between the past and the modern.

Thank you to everyone who joined us throughout the semester and helped make these conversations meaningful and engaging. We look forward to returning next semester with more thought-provoking talks and discussions at FAS.

An engaging and thought-provoking session brought students and faculty together for a candid conversation with Dr. Pervez Hoodbhoy, moderated by Irene Martínez Fernández.

The discussion unpacked the complexities of ongoing global conflicts, encouraging participants to critically examine prevailing narratives and better understand the geopolitical landscape. With curiosity and concern driving the room, the session created space for meaningful dialogue and reflection on what lies ahead.

How do we hold power accountable when the very act of reporting becomes an act of resistance?

Fieldnotes’ second conversation brought together Afia Salam and Dr. Fozia Parveen for a compelling dialogue on Environmental Journalism on a Tightrope.
We explored the challenges of reporting on climate crises in Pakistan, highlighting the tensions between truth-telling, power structures, and environmental advocacy.

An engaging session that left us reflecting on the role of journalism as both witness and resistance.

See the glimpses of a day filled with friendly rivalries, big hits, and even bigger smiles! 🏏

Last week, the Inaugural Dean FAS Cricket League brought the campus together with a vibrant opening ceremony and a spirited friendly match between students and faculty-staff, where bragging rights were just as important as the fun.

From the pitch to the sidelines, it was all about team spirit, laughter, and moments that made campus life even more memorable. 💫

AKUMUN II brought the FAS campus to life last weekend, a space where ideas met debate, and learning extended far beyond the classroom.

What began as a vision transformed into a dynamic and unconventional MUN experience, where delegates quickly grew into confident voices, engaging in thoughtful diplomacy, building strong arguments, and learning the power of collaboration.

From passionate discussions to lasting connections, the conference reflected the energy, curiosity, and leadership of our students. A special appreciation to the organizing team, chairs, and mentors whose dedication made it all possible.

AKUMUN II stands as a reminder of what students can achieve when given the space to lead.
