The Government of Saskatchewan has proclaimed January 27, 2024, as Family Literacy Day and January 22 to 28, 2024, as Family Literacy Week in Saskatchewan. The Week provides opportunities for communities, childcare, preschools, libraries, schools, and other organizations to plan and host events that raise awareness about the importance of family literacy. Through activities they do together, families support their children to build literacy skills, preparing them for the future, and contributing to strong communities. This year’s theme is “Let’s have a Family Party! / Fêtons en famille!”

You are invited to celebrate with the Saskatchewan Literacy Network (SLN) and the nine Family Literacy Hubs (FLH) the free livestream events, in English, on Friday January 26 and Saturday January 27, 2024, starting at 10:30 a.m. CST. Join Saskatchewan writer, spoken word artist and educator Khodi Dill as he shares from his picture book ‘Welcome to the Cypher’. Illustrations are by Awuradwoa Afful.
