It's that time of year again - Lowell Rowing needs your help hosting spring regattas! These events are a cornerstone of our program, but it takes a village to make them happen. The LHS coaching staff has spent hundreds of hours on planning and course installation (in addition to coaching the best kids on earth), and we're hoping you can join us for the sprint across the finish line!
If you volunteer at one of our events, you'll be making it possible for hundreds of kids from all over New England to race on our spectacular river. You will also be helping us raise money for equipment upgrades and programming like winter and summer rowing!
No experience is necessary to volunteer, and most jobs don't require much rowing knowledge. We'll give you some quick training at the start of your shift, and you'll be working with other volunteers who share the same goal of providing safe, fair, and fun racing for great kids! Of course, you will also have the support of the regatta staff (aka Coach KC) if you need assistance at any point during the day.
Please register using the links below if you're able to join us for one or more shifts. We are incredibly grateful for the support that our community shows us every day, and we hope to see you at the boathouse this month!

MPSRA Spring Championship- May 28th, 2023
It’s hard to believe the spring is already over, but we ended on a high note at MPSRA Champs! Big shoutout to our WN2x, who placed 2nd! We are so proud of them and amazed at their triple threat skills- both athletes rowed, coxed, and sculled, leading to a combined 9 trips down the course on Sunday!
Almost all of our other boats qualified for A finals, and everyone raced their hearts out all day long. Lowell High continues to get stronger and faster every year, and we have so much fun while doing it!
This was a crazy season, with many unforeseen challenges (canceled regattas, racing in the pouring rain, and so much more!) but the team handled everything that was thrown their way with grace and a smile. We can’t wait to see everyone back in the fall, and we’re looking forward to more great racing and memories!

The Lowell Invitational- May 27th, 2023
We were so thrilled to host a makeup regatta for the AZM in the form of the 2023 Lowell Invitational for all of the teams who could make it here on this Saturday! Lowell High took home quite a bit of hardware with them at the end of today, with the W2x and the W1N4+ receiving bronze medals, and the M1x receiving a gold medal!! Thank you to all of the parents/friends/alumni of LHS Rowing who came out and volunteered to make this regatta happen, and to all of the crews who joined us today! We can’t wait to see those of you who are returning for the spring MPSRA State Championship tomorrow at the boathouse!
Also, special shout out to LHS’s Coach Julian who captured some of these amazing photos from today as well as many more! 📸: on IG

We were totally bummed that the AZM was unexpectedly canceled this year (😭), but we were so fortunate to be able to host for an awesome day of racing today!! The weather was gorgeous, and we had a great day of building community and having some super competitive races! Our favorite moment of the day was when members of both crews chased the W2x race all the way down the boulevard to the finish line! Thanks again to Souhegan for helping us make a race happen for the kids this weekend despite the circumstances!!

We took advantage of the great weather yesterday to get into sculling boats for the first time all season! Thanks to the MRRA letting us use their small boats, we got to teach some sculling newbies (including a first-season novice rower, who did so well!) and our varsity showed us that their skills weren’t as rusty as they thought they would be!! (😂) We were once again reminded how much the LHS kids love the freedom and independence that comes with small boats and how fun it is to get out there with them. We are looking forward to getting some more practice in and sending them down the race course very soon!

We took a little hiatus from Throwback Thursdays, but here we are again! Taking it back again to the first time Coach KC was the head coach of Lowell Rowing! We missed her while she was gone but are so glad she found her way back to us. Fun fact: two of the athletes in this photo went on to coach for Lowell Rowing after graduating, and one is now a teacher at LHS!
It’s been a tough week at the Bellegarde Boathouse in some ways; the safety line at the Pawtucket Dam snapped, leading to the cancellation of three races, including the AZM Regatta. We’re super bummed about missing the opportunity to get out on the course and put the race plan into action, but we’ve made the most of it!
We’ve seen some awesome PRs and incredible technical improvements over the past couple of weeks, and the coaches are all super proud of the work the team is putting in! We’re looking forward to racing Souhegan this weekend, and then traveling to Worcester for New England Youth Championships next week!
