Shoutout to our girls team! 🥇

Congratulations to Senior Melvin Hunter on finishing his high school wrestling career at the Kohl Center this weekend.

Melvin finished the season with a record of 40 wins and 11 losses while earning bonus points in 25 of those wins.

More importantly, Melvin served as a Team Captain for our program and was an incredible leader for our team as he consistently modeled positive character, hard work, and discipline. We are so proud of you Melvin!

Congratulations to all of our Purgolder wrestlers who competed last weekend! The girls took the mat Friday at the WIAA Regionals in Waunakee, and the boys followed up Saturday at the WIAA Sectionals in DeForest.

Girls Results
• Halana Lemke – Regional Champion at 100 lbs 🥇
• Neshia Williams – 2nd Place at 114 lbs 🥈

Halana and Neshia will compete Friday, February 20th at the WIAA Girls Sectionals in Mineral Point for a chance to advance to the WIAA State Tournament.

Boys Results
• Melvin Hunter qualified for the WIAA State Tournament at 215 lbs!

Melvin will compete at the Kohl Center in two weeks.

Special thanks to Coach Cedric at Gorilla Lab Wrestling for running yesterday’s practice. It was a pleasure to have him share his knowledge and expertise with our team!

Our Girls Wrestling team made history by winning the first ever women’s city title! East had 4 individual city champions and other great team achievements from Thursday night. Our individual city champions are Halana Lemke at 107lbs, Essence Webb at 114lbs, Neshia Williams at 120lbs, and Mara Smith at 152lbs. The dual results of the night are East over West 36-11, East over Memorial 30-24 and East over La Follette 30-24.

After more than 20 years, we are finally back in the Bernie Kane Room.

Named in honor of longtime Head Wrestling Coach Bernie Kane, the space was originally designed for the wrestling program. For many years, however, the team practiced in other shared facilities due to space limitations.

We are grateful to be back in the room we once called home!
