Students will be returning to their school buildings next week.

After 6 hours of discussion, the Miami-Dade Public School Board unanimously voted to move to a Schoolhouse Model beginning on October 5, 2020.

The Schoolhouse Model represents a staggered approach to returning students to school buildings.

This Friday will be a non-optional teacher planning day.

We are experiencing unprecedented challenges as the 2020/2021 school year resumes today. Amid all the changes ahead of educators, caregivers, and families, we hold steadfast that with transparency and collaborative effort, we can support our students and one another during this time.

Don't miss out on today's School Board Meeting. We'll hear updates about the position of the district's new Chief Health Officer, the annual report provided to board members, and updates on the budget.

dadeschools - Eduvision

Today we learned that Miami school buildings will be closed through the end of this school year. Distance learning will continue and we'll share updates on any changes to the continuity plan for learning. For now, a few reminders:

-Attendance will be recorded daily. Students must log in to the student portal each school day or they will be marked absent.

-Grades will be issued going forward. Students will receive a minimum of one grade per week per subject. Students are not expected to be online the entire day, but they are required to do the work they are assigned.

-Services are available for all students. English Language Learners should receive the same services as students proficient in English, but they may be using different online platforms that have built-in translators.

-High school seniors who earn the required course credits AND earn a cumulative GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale will be able to graduate.

-To ensure intrusion-free secure online environments, uninstall any previous versions of Zoom students have on their devices. Instead, install Microsoft Teams from the student portal and access Zoom through Teams.
