The SACI North Section (SACI-NS) represents members of the voluntary association of the South African Chemical Institute (SACI) who live and work north of the Jukskei river in Gauteng to the Musina border in Limpopo and the Komati border in Mpumalanga.

Professor Peter Wasserscheid heads the Institute for Chemical Reaction Engineering at FAU and is a Director at Forschungszentrum Jülich. After earning his doctorate from RWTH Aachen University in 1998, he completed his habilitation there following industrial postdoc work at BP Chemicals. Joining FAU in 2003, he became founding director of the Helmholtz Institute Erlangen-Nürnberg for Renewable Energy in 2014. Since 2020, he's served on the Hydrogen Center Bavaria board and, since 2021, has been spokesperson for HC-H2. In May 2025, he began leading the “Reaction Engineering for Chemical Hydrogen Storage” division at INW, Forschungszentrum Jülich.
The 45th National Convention of The South African Chemical Institute (SACI-45) will be held in-person from 30 November – 05 December 2025 at the University of The Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa. The theme “Chemistry: A Window for Change”, aims to highlight the transformative power of chemistry in addressing global challenges and fostering innovation.

Gauteng Catalysis Forum Commitee is pleased to invite you to attend and participate in the 6th Gauteng Catalysis Forum Student Seminar that will be held on the 11th of April 2025 at Tshwane University of Technology, Pretoria West Campus from 8H00 to 16H00. This is an open and free seminar, and all researchers in catalysis and related fields are encouraged to attend. The closing date for MSc and PhD students abstracts submissions is the 17th of March 2025.
They will be two keynote adress for both homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis lectures by Dr Denzil Moodley (SASOL) and Prof Banothile Makhubela (UJ).
