The Student International Business Council (SIBC) is a student-led council with a vision of “Peace through Commerce”. We develop projects with international firms that coincide with our vision, giving our students the benefits of an international exposure that play a peaceful part in our global community.

New Blog Post!! Our USD SIBC SISA team had the opportunity to visit Vancouver, Canada this past semester. After working extensively with SISA Energy, an energy equipment and solutions company, the team got to experience the rich diversity of the city and try unique cuisine. Being able to present and answer questions was an incredible opportunity for the team to work on their consulting skill. These students learned so much about this industry, and were able to help assist in creating a lasting and sustainable impact in the world! Visit the link in our bio to read more about their trip!!

New Blog Post!!! Just a few weeks ago, our USD SIBC Glass Half Full Project Team had the opportunity to visit New Orleans, LA and consult for a social enterprise industry focused on removing glass waste from landfills through recycling. Our project team created a social impact report and residential recycle growth strategy for the company. While the team was able to grow their professionalism skills and better understand the world of business, they became exposed to the business side of sustainability and the importance of environmental impact and protection.

New Blog Post!! A few weeks ago, our USD SIBC Xecue team had the opportunity to visit El Valle de Guadalupe, Mexico! After working extensively with Xecue, a well-known Mexican winery run by a lovely couple, the team enjoyed a wonderful meal hosted by the Xecue family! Being able to present their market exportation plan, marketing ideas, and practice their public speaking skills was a great way for the team to develop as business-minded individuals. The team had a great time staying in Ensenada, Mexico, and enjoyed getting to work with Xecue after last year's project team! Visit the link in our bio to read more about their trip!!

Thank you to everyone who was able to attend our End of Year Celebration this past Thursday!! We are beyond grateful for your incredible contributions you’ve made for our council, and appreciate the hard work you’ve put into the projects this past school year. We want to wish the best to our SIBC graduates, and know they will continue to achieve amazing things through their future careers! Special thank you to our advisors, e-board, SIBC President Maria Klostrakis, and congratulations to our award recipients. We look forward to seeing everyone again in the fall!!

New Blog Post!! A few weeks ago, our USD SIBC Artal team had the opportunity to visit Costa Rica. After working extensively with Artal Forest, a Costa Rican based teak and wood distributor, the team enjoyed a guided plantation and city tour! Being able to present to their clients and discuss market entry plans to America was extremely rewarding, and the team hopes to use this experience as preparation for their future careers! Congratulations to our Spring 2023 BuySide team for completing their wonderful presentation at the annual SIBC BuySide Forum last weekend. The BuySide project consisted of students; Dominique Gillette, Isabelle Churchill, Cameron Malalis, and Devin Doroff. Our council is very proud of their accomplishment, and believe the team constructed a beautiful, very well delivered presentation! We look forward to the next BuySide event with Note Dame and Benedictine College!

Special thank you to all of the panelists for attending! We are so glad to have had faculty, previous SIBC alumni, advisors, IBC leaders, and the M&T Foundation present at the event. We are also grateful for your contributions to the SIBC, as well as your generosity.

Our council loved his enthusiasm, and appreciated the wise advice regarding time spent at USD and setting oneself up for success in the consulting world. We appreciated the support and feedback he offered our students, and his openness to answering all student questions! Thank you Ryan!! We are so proud of all you have accomplished!

Attention all SIBC members! We will be having a special guest speaker join our council meeting this Thursday, April 20th. At 12:30 pm, Ryan Haugh, a BCG Consultant, will be presenting in Learning Commons 107. Ryan is a recent graduate of the University of San Diego and an MBA candidate for the University of Minnesota - Carlson School of Management. Our council is excited to hear his experience with consulting, and how Ryan has spent his time after graduating USD. All students are welcome to attend, and the event is highly encouraged to anyone interested! See you there!!

Please join us on Friday, April 21st for our spring 2023 BuySide Presentation! BuySide is an institutional event run every spring by the IBC, the SIBC alumni organization. Teams create executive presentations to be made to a panel of judges including our generous SIBC donors, SIBC alumni, and faculty. Come support our fellow SIBC members of the BuySide team as they compete against students from Notre Dame and Benedictine College. The event will begin at 11:00am in Knauss School of Business Nexus Theater. Attention all SIBC Members!! We will be hosting our first ever SIBC Alumni Beach Cleanup on Saturday, April 22nd at 10:00am. Join us, as we plan to collect trash along Mission Beach and network with SIBC alumni. This is a great opportunity to hear more about job opportunities after college, as well as protect SD marine life.
