Osani EP Release Friday Oct 30th West End Cultural Centre Doors 7pm music 8pm $20-25 @osani_balkaran came by The WECC to talk album vision and record creation. Catch him and his new EP live at @thewecc Oct 30, along with @ali_wan__kenobi and @bluebloodsmusic. Hip-hop, indie rap For fans of Reggie Watts, Tyler the creator, big Sis, Die Antwood, MF Doom OSANI BALKARAN is an Indigenous and Guyanese rapper, producer, and artist based in Winnipeg. Blending Hip-Hop, storytelling, and cultural roots, he crafts self-produced tracks that feature Cree references and RE-IMAGINED melodies. His work reflects loss, resilience, and community pride. OSANI has opened for The Lytics and Gully, showcased at Canadian Music Week, featured in the 2025 Indigenous Music Spotlight and is planning an upcoming Manitoba Tour with Kirstine McKay and Mike North. He’s now focused on releasing his debut EP—built with local creatives—and using music as a platform to uplift Indigenous and minority youth. October 30th at The WECC, Osani Balkaran is set to headline a night to launch the release of his debut EP Social Currency— his first fully independent record. It’s been a long time coming, and this project marks the end of one chapter and the start of a whole new wave. The live set is gonna be wild — cinematic, soundscapy, high energy, and full of those Guyanese and Indigenous sounds that make Osani’s music hit different. Dyl the Giant, Ed Riley, and Prado are pulling up too — artists who’ve been part of the journey and help carry the same energy: inspiring, building each other up, and showing out for community. Take a tour of @candacehousewpg ! It was such a moving experience to work with @cecillyshianne and the team to add artwork to their healing space in Downtown Winnipeg. We added outdoor vinyl artworks by @moneca_sinclaire and @k_sheppard.art that act as way finding for people trying to find their way to the space then interior hand painted murals to extend the warmth in the space. Congrats on curating this project @brianna.wentz ! Candace House is a first-of-its-kind, charitable nonprofit organization in Canada. We work in partnership with Manitoba Justice Victim Services to provide a safe and comforting refuge during the day for victims and survivors of crime, such as families who have lost a loved one due to violence.​ ​ 📷 @patrizzy 10/23/2024
