A little late to the game this month but CCMU’s saint of the month for October is Saint John Paul II!
Saint John Paul II served as pope from 1978 to 2005 and spoke out in favour of nonviolent social activism, human rights, religious freedoms, and full equality for women. He did all this while standing firm in fundamental church doctrine. He also contributed to the dissolution of the Soviet Union and canonized more saints than any other pope before him. SJPII valued the role of youth in the church and took them very seriously.
There is way too much to say about this man! We could go on and on.
Saint John Paul II is the patron saint of Catholic sports and World Youth Day. His feast day was also yesterday!

Saint John Paul II, please pray for all CCMU students.

CCMU’s saint of the month for March is Saint Joseph!
Saint Joseph was married to Mary, mother of Jesus, and was the legal father of Jesus. Joseph decided to stay by Mary’s side when an angel approached him and and told him that Mary was carrying the son of God. Although little is known about Saint Joseph, we do know that he protected Mary and Jesus throughout his lifetime and taught Jesus carpentry.
Saint Joseph is the patron saint of the Universal Church, workers, fathers, and travellers.

Saint Joseph, please pray for all CCMU students, especially those who are juggling work and school.

CCMU’s saint of the month for February is Saint Thomas Aquinas!
Saint Thomas Aquinas was a scholar who defended religious ideals in his writings. He was the first person to discuss theology and philosophy and relate the two.
He was also the greatest of the Scholastic philosophers and is the patron of students and Catholic educational establishments.

Saint Thomas Aquinas, please pray for all CCMU students, especially those with upcoming midterms and assignments.

Meet our execs and leaders!
My name is Katy and I’m the Co-President of CCMU. In January 2019, my friend Kellie and I started CCMU with a small group of students on campus, and the rest is history! I’m now in my third year of a BScN degree. When I’m not at the hospital, I’m at home being a mom to my 3-month-old miniature dachshund Nora. I’m excited to see what God has planned for this semester!
Hi! My name is Hanna and I’m the Co-President of CCMU. My friend Gabrielle and I started CCO Connect at UBCO last year. When I transferred to MacEwan, I naturally became involved in CCMU. I’m a second-year communications student and I love hiking, skiing, and pretty much anything outdoors! I still live in Kelowna but I’m excited to meet everyone in person once I move to Edmonton.
Hi! I'm Kellie and I'm super excited to be leading growth this semester. I graduated from MacEwan last spring and I recently started a new job in Sylvan Lake as a library technician. I love dogs!
Hello! My name is Alex, I am a BSc student here at MacEwan! I was introduced to CCMU by some of the other execs and I am thrilled to be on the team this semester! A fun fact about me is that I have an almost 2-year-old beta fish whose name is Charles Xavier Rodrigues Schoenberger (he also took my husband’s last name when I got married!)
Hi, my name is Adam! I’m a second-year education student at the University of Alberta (I’m an imposter lol). I got involved with CCMU because I had heard about the good CCO was doing and knew I needed to get involved! Fun fact about me is this summer I ended up running a marathon essentially by accident (it’s a fun story ask me about it).
My name is Johnna and I'm studying to be an Educational Assistant. I've been involved with CCMU since 2019, first as the secretary and now as a faith study leader and event coordinator!
My name is Lucille Lee and I am a second year student at MacEwan University. This term for CCMU, I am serving as the Director of Communications.
Hi everyone, my name is Anita and I am the director of finance for CCMU. I am in my fourth year of my Bachelor of Social Work degree program at MacEwan. My hobbies include reading, gardening, and sports.
