We are looking for artists to collaborate with us!🎨

Over the years, artists have brought their practices to our students at Saturday Art Class, giving them the chance to learn through direct, hands-on experiences with different mediums, ideas and approaches.

Working directly with renowned artists like N. S. Harsha, Ruby Jhunjhunwala and more, students get to experiment with materials and engage with creative processes in ways that go beyond simply learning about them.

We’ve loved seeing the installations that have come out of these collaborations, and we’re looking for more artists to create these experiences with.

Art periods are now a compulsory part of the government school’s timetables across Nagaland!!

The Directorate of School Education, Nagaland has made it compulsory for all government schools to conduct four art periods every month, from Pre-Primary to Grade 8, ensuring that every child has dedicated time for art every week in their timetable.

This marks an important shift for us and the sector, recognising creativity as an integral part of every child’s learning experience.

This policy change from the Government of Nagaland is an inspiration for all towards giving creativity a greater priority in public education.

Rest In Peace, Yayoi Kusama🤍

Yayoi Kusama has been one of our favourites at Saturday Art Class from the very beginning. Her work has stayed close to us throughout our journey, shaping our curriculum and classrooms. We’ve always been drawn to the simplicity of her visual language: dots, patterns and colour. She transforms these familiar forms into work that feels immersive, bold, whimsical and completely unexpected.

Across different ages and contexts, our students and educators have found so much joy in working with her ideas: playing with repetition, getting lost in patterns, experimenting with colour and allowing their own imaginations to take over.

That sense of play and possibility is something we value deeply at Saturday Art Class, and it’s one of the many reasons Kusama’s work has meant so much to us.

Thank you, Yayoi, for being such an important part of our journey and for inspiring all of us and our students!🎨

Self-Belief is not just the idea that one can do the task. It is the innate belief that one can persevere through challenges that are brought their way.🌻

Repeated exposure to high-quality visual arts allows the child to practice, learn, implement, and inculcate these skills for years to follow.

Research plays a key role in how we at Saturday Art Class bring visual arts to students across India, creating safe spaces for them to problem-solve, collaborate, and test ideas.

Climate education can be more than facts and figures. Visual arts give children a way to connect with what climate change means in their own lives. 🌻

Through our Climate Curriculum, children are exploring climate issues through visual arts, connecting what they learn to their own experiences and communities.

In our classroom, they are using art to express their experiences with different climate crises, from what happens when rainfall is delayed to how they create and reduce waste.

At Saturday Art Class, we believe creativity gives children the space to find their own ways of making sense of complex ideas and expressing what matters to them. Swipe to see this come take root 🌍
