Is the UConn Extension Master Gardener Program for you? To help you decide if you should apply for UConn Master Gardener training, ask yourself these important questions:

- Do I look forward to sharing my knowledge with people in the community?
- Do I have enough time to attend the sixteen-week training and complete my sixty hours of volunteer work?
- Am I eager to participate in the practical and intensive training program?
- Do I want to learn more about plant care and gardening?

The UConn Extension Master Gardener Program begins every January.

The Connecticut Invasive Plant Working Group's 2026 symposium From Awareness to Action - Strengthening Our Response to Invasive Plants will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2026 at UConn Student Union, Storrs, CT.

🎙The symposium will be recorded and made available after the event. Attendees can choose to attend in person or purchase the recording.

🌳Sessions include education on a variety of techniques for management of terrestrial and aquatic invasives, as well as restoration with native alternatives.

We had a wonderfully successful Bug Week event at the Middlesex County UConn Extension Center today including Bug Walks with Srikanth Kodati, face painting, bug crafts, native plant giveaways, bug themed snacks and door prizes. Thank you to all our volunteers and sponsors! 🐛🦋🐌🐜🪲🪳🕷️

Welcome to the Team, Rebecca Hayes.

UConn Extension is pleased to welcome Rebecca Hayes as the new Middlesex County Master Gardener Coordinator. A Connecticut native, Rebecca became a Master Gardener in 2022 and has developed a passion for sustainable gardening, native plants, pollinator conservation, and helping people make small changes that create big impacts in their communities.

In her new role, Rebecca will support Master Gardeners and interns in their outreach and diagnostic work while helping connect residents with research-based gardening information. When she's not gardening, you'll likely find her hiking, boating, or exploring Connecticut's natural beauty with her family.

We're hiring. UConn Extension is seeking a Visiting Assistant Extension Educator in Land Use to provide statewide outreach and training on land use planning and decision-making across Connecticut. This position will lead the award-winning Land Use Academy within the UConn Center for Land Use Education and Research (CLEAR) and help communities balance growth, sustainability, and natural resource protection. The ideal candidate will have experience in land use planning, community resilience, municipal decision-making, and educational outreach.
