Into the Woods Alaska’s Mission is three-fold:
1: The Outdoors is a place for everyone, and all are welcome here. We are dedicated to the idea that all children have the right to grow up playing in the woods, within which they can experience intellectual and emotional growth and health. All adults and families must have equal access to shared use of our wild spaces.
2: Children that connect with
nature will become adults who advocate for its protection. Children and Adults who know the value of nature and use it to access a healthy life are more likely to become civically involved in conservation and protection.
3: To deliver unparalleled Environmental & Outdoor Science Education to youth and adults. Children who grow up learning the fundamentals in these topics will be safe & respectful lifetime users of our world’s wild spaces. These skills, learned from a young age, will become second-nature, allowing children to save their lives and the lives of others. Everyone they share the outdoors with over the course of their lives will gain from their depth of knowledge and experience. We live by a simple code: Safety, Kindness, and Respect towards oneself, our trail companions, and the environment. Into the Woods Alaska is a youth & adult outdoor and environmental science education program emphasizing place-based, experiential learning. Our programs are designed to foster authentic learning experiences that will not only last a lifetime, but encourage our participants to become actively engaged in conservation, protection, and sustainable use of our wild spaces. We firmly believe that when children and adults get out in nature they will become advocates for protecting it. We all need to do our part to ensure future generations will be able to see whales in resurrection bay, salmon leaping up the Kenai, glaciers in our mountains, forests flourishing (not in wildfire or in drought), birds on the wing, and our ecosystems full of life. Meet you in the Woods,
