Crawfordsville High School Athletics is pleased to announce the hiring of three new head coaches for the 2026-27 school year: Caleb Fenimore as head baseball coach, Chris Board as head girls' volleyball coach, and Brandon Rash as head girls' soccer coach.
CHS Athletic Director Bryce Barton said, “We are excited to welcome these three coaches into their head coaching positions at Crawfordsville High School. Each of them already has strong connections to our athletic programs and our student-athletes, which will allow for a smooth transition. Their familiarity with our culture, expectations, and commitment to developing young people both on and off the field makes them outstanding choices to lead our programs. We look forward to the positive impact they will have on our student-athletes.”
𝘽𝘼𝙎𝙀𝘽𝘼𝙇𝙇
Fenimore, a highly respected educator and coach, brings an extensive background of collegiate, professional, and international baseball experience to this historically successful Athenian baseball program. Fenimore has spent the last six seasons as an assistant coach at Wabash College focusing on hitting and catching where he helped guide the team to five consecutive winning seasons and earned the 2025 Conference Coaching Staff of the Year award.
Prior to coaching at Wabash, he was a professional head coach for the Dohren Wild Farmers in Germany's top baseball league managing operations, game strategy, and youth development programs.
As a player, Fenimore was a four-year NCAA Division 1 starter at Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne (IPFW), earning All-Summit League honors and setting school records for career caught-stealing and runners picked off. He went on to play eight professional seasons in Germany and Australia, earning four All-Star nominations, two Gold Glove Awards, a league championship, and international recognition as one of the top hitters outside of the United States.
The Crawfordsville Athenians baseball program boasts a rich history of excellence, pride, and unwavering community support. Under the guidance of Hall of Fame coach John Froedge, the Athenians cemented themselves as a powerhouse in Indiana high school baseball, capturing two IHSAA Class 3A State Championships (2008 and 2011), 22 Sagamore Conference titles, 17 sectional crowns, and 5 regional titles. This tradition of excellence remains intact, highlighted by the program's recent 2024 Sectional and Regional Championship titles under head coach and former Athenian ‘95 alum, Brett Motz who led the Athenians from 2021 - 2026.
Coach Fenimore is ready to build on that rich foundation of Athenian pride.

Our goal will be to develop young men who compete with purpose, value academics, and represent Crawfordsville with pride and character." Fenimore said.
𝙂𝙄𝙍𝙇𝙎' 𝙑𝙊𝙇𝙇𝙀𝙔𝘽𝘼𝙇𝙇
A familiar face within the Athenian volleyball program, Chris Board steps into the head coaching role after serving as an assistant coach for the past two seasons.
Board is ready to continue the momentum of the CHS girls’ volleyball program which has seen growth and success in recent years including a 2nd place finish in the new Monon Athletic Conference last fall under previous coach Allison Manwell Huppert.
Board brings playing experience to the role as well. A 2023 graduate of Bishop Chatard High School, he was a four-year member of the Trojan volleyball program and led the team in digs during each of his three varsity seasons. As a junior, he helped lead Bishop Chatard to a 28-7 record. Board was also part of the Munciana Club volleyball program.
Board currently competes for the Wabash College men's volleyball team, where he is a three-year letterman and team captain. He led the Little Giants in digs during his freshman season and is pursuing a double major in Chemistry and Music with a minor in Education Studies.
"Crawfordsville Volleyball created such a special love for coaching for me," Board said. "When Allison (Manwell Huppert) brought me on two years ago, I had no idea what to expect, but I fell in love with the program quickly. So when the position opened up, Sidney (Veatch) and I agreed we had to continue the momentum of the program together. I can't wait to lead Athenian volleyball this fall!"
𝙂𝙄𝙍𝙇𝙎' 𝙎𝙊𝘾𝘾𝙀𝙍
Brandon Rash will be entering his 14th season coaching at the varsity level and bringing a wealth of experience to the position. Rash joined the CHS soccer coaching staff last year and prior to that he was at South for 11 years and Greencastle for one. His coaching experience also includes many years working with youth soccer players from kindergarten through high school.
He is ready to take the lead and credited former coach Alex Ehrlich for the established success of the program, which includes last fall’s undefeated MAC Championship title.
“I want to thank Alex Ehrlich for building such a positive culture and outstanding program,” he said. “My goal is to build on the foundation he established and continue moving the program forward. I'm excited for the opportunity to lead such a talented group of players and can't wait to get started.”
With experienced leadership in place across all three programs, Crawfordsville High School Athletics looks forward to continued growth and success both on and off the field and court. The Athenians will begin competition under their new head coaches during the 2026-27 school year.
