On October 4, 2026, RISC (Research & Innovation for Sustainability Center) attended the opening of "A Cooler, Greener Bangkok: Finance it, Protect it, Grow it" at Bang Sue Environmental Library. Representing MQDC were Dr. Surapong Lertsithichai, Director of RISC by MQDC, and Kittiratana Pitipanich, Director of Creative Lab by MQDC.
The event brought together key changemakers and diplomats who took the stage to share their climate visions:
Ms. Niamh Collier-Smith (UNDP Resident Representative in Thailand) opened the session, highlighting sustainable finance mechanisms, support for local climate adaptation projects, and empowering the next generation through hands-on sustainability education.
Ms. Luisa Ragher (Ambassador of the European Union to Thailand) emphasized international partnerships and the role of EU support in accelerating urban green transitions.
Ms. Nicola Pollitt (British Ambassador to Thailand) shared global perspectives on sustainable investments and cross-border cooperation for climate resilience.
Mr. Leo Horn-Phathanothai (Founder and Convenor of Bangkok Climate Action Week) spoke on building cross-sector synergies between government, the private sector, and local communities.
Mr. Pornphrom Vikitsreth (Deputy Governor of Bangkok) closed the keynotes representing the Thai government. He emphasized the importance of climate adaptation and resilience for the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and reaffirmed City Hall's commitment to supporting sustainability initiatives—a priority made especially critical following Bangkok’s recent flood situation.
RISC by MQDC initiated dialogues with UNDP to explore potential R&D collaborations across various initiatives. RISC by MQDC also extended an invitation to the UNDP team to visit The Forestias to experience science-backed, sustainable urban innovation in practice. Through R&D, city partnerships, and action-driven collaboration, we are ready to help shape a low-carbon, climate-resilient future for Bangkok.
