When it comes to air diaphragm pumps, diaphragm size matters. Us Gearheads have a saying "There is no replacement for displacement". So, all things being equal, the pump with the larger diaphragms win. Take the 3/8 All Flow pump for instance. The diaphragms on that pump are larger than some 1/2 inch pumps. ARO Pumps from Ingersall - Rand also have huge diaphragms. Ideally, you want a KYNAR Pump. PVDF is another name for KYNAR. Polyproplyne will work too, for awhile. Actually, Polyproplyne has excellent SH Resistance. However, in a effort to make the Poly stronger, they add Fiberglass to it, and then the SH attacks the fiberglass, and the pump starts leaking. Also, the UV Rays of the Sun also attack the Poly, and weaken it. KYNAR is pretty much UV Proof. AS far as diaphragms so, we feel that Santoprene is a good material for a diaphragm. Yes, Teflon has the very best SH resistance, however you loose some flow by choosing a Teflon Diaphragm because it is so stiff. Viton would be ok, except Viton has poor resistance to Sodium Hydroxide ! And ALL SH has Sodium Hydroxide in it, left over from the manufacturing process.
