Salem State University receives donations from alumni, faculty, staff, parents, friends and students like you. What is the Student Philanthropy Council at Salem State University? The Salem State University Philanthropy Council (SPC) is comprised of student volunteers committed to educating their fellow students about the importance and impact of donor generosity. Gifts received from students can be designated to a particular department, club or program directed by the student. Students can also let Salem State President, Dr. Patricia Maguire Meservey, allocate their gifts to current priorities. What you can expect as a SPC member? Students participating on the council will get an up close look at the development operations at Salem State University. Students will also have the opportunity to create and participate in student university fund campaigns, promote student campaigns and foster a spirit of philanthropy with students across the campus. In addition, SPC members:
• Provide a student perspective
• Make brief presentations to a variety of student groups and organizations on campus
• Appear on promotional pieces, such as fliers and posters displayed around campus
• Staff a student giving table in various campus locations throughout the year
