Sack, the forerunner of our modern sherry; a white fortified wine imported from Spain or the Canary Islands. Most sack was a sweet wine, as it was matured in wooden barrels for a limited time only. Today, we still see sack in some sherry brand names, such as “Dry Sack” (Williams & Humbert).
There is also a tastefully named cocktail, “In the Sack”, you can make using cream sherry:
3 oz of Cream Sherry
2 oz of apricot nectar
3 oz of Orange Juice
1/2 oz of Lemon Juice
Pour all ingredients into a cocktail shaker half-filled with ice cubes. Shake well, and strain into a highball glass. Garnish with a slice of orange, and serve. 🍊🍋
