Today is National Nonprofit Day, a day to celebrate the organizations working every day to make a meaningful impact in the lives of others.

At Nassau Suffolk Services for Autism, we offer highly individualized programs and services through our school, adult services, consultation, and transition programs. We also bring our community together through events like our A Special Night for our Special Kids evenings at Adventureland, and provide educational opportunities through parent training workshops, visitors’ days, and more.

NSSA is so excited to once again host our A Special Night for Our Special Kids at Adventureland 🎢💙

For three hours on September 24th, the park will be closed to the public and open exclusively for individuals with autism, along with their families and friends for a night centered around inclusion, connection, and community.

It is always such a meaningful and fun evening where everyone feels welcomed, supported, and celebrated. We hope you will join us

Thanks to a very generous donor, NSSA has been SPLASHED!

The amazing team at Splashes Of Hope recently created and installed a beautiful custom mural, along with custom ceiling tiles, at our Martin C. Barell School.

We are especially grateful for the thoughtful way the mural was designed to support learning while transforming our hallway into a more colorful, engaging, and joyful space. We know it will brighten our days at NSSA for years to come.

A huge thank you to Splashes Of Hope for sharing your incredible creativity and generosity with our students, participants, and staff. We are so grateful for this beautiful addition to our school and the lasting impact it will have for years to come!

Nassau Suffolk Services for Autism (NSSA) is once again offering an 8-week workshop for parents and family members of children affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The workshop provides essential and valuable information (including the principles and science of ABA) that helps parents and family members to better understand autism, its challenges, and how to best meet their child’s individual needs.

The workshop will be offered on Thursday evenings from October 15th through December 10th, 2026, from 7-9pm. Please note that there will be no class held on November 26th due to the holiday.  For more information and to reserve your spot, please call the office at 631-462-0386 or email [email protected].

Our 5K Run/Walk for Autism Awareness is happening on Saturday, October 3rd at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, NY. Celebrate two decades of community, support, and advocacy while helping make a meaningful impact on the individuals and families we serve at NSSA.

A sweet day of learning, creativity, and inclusion!

Our students had an amazing hands-on experience at Sweet Clementines Sips Sass and Treats, where they spent the day baking, creating delicious treats, and making their own “dirty sodas.” From pancakes with all the toppings, to handmade empanadas, cookies, and a behind-the-scenes tour of the kitchen, our students had the opportunity to explore new skills while having so much fun.

What made this experience even more special was learning about Sweet Clementine’s mission of creating meaningful employment opportunities for individuals of all abilities. Founded to provide a career path for their son who has developmental disabilities and struggled to find work, the cafés owners are dedicated to job training and employment for people with diverse abilities.

We are so grateful to Sweet Clementine’s for welcoming our students, sharing your space, and showing them what is possible when communities embrace inclusion. Thank you for creating a place where everyone has the opportunity to shine! 💙
