From job fairs and CCSD Convocation to community events, open houses, resource gatherings, and everything in between, we’ve been connecting with neighbors, students, families, and partners to listen, learn, share resources, and serve our community together.

Because building a thriving community doesn’t happen alone. It happens when we show up, build relationships, and connect with people and help people find opportunities to thrive.

We’re grateful for every conversation, connection, and invitation to be part of the work happening across Athens.

Meet the Spellers: Beez in the Trap! 🐝

They may be known for service above self, but on Sept. 11, these Rotarians will be putting spelling above everything else! Meet Beez in the Trap, the Rotary Club of Athens, GA, USA team competing in the Grown Up Spelling Bee! They’re bringing their community spirit, competitive energy, and hopefully a few well-honed spelling skills to the stage.

Meet the BEE-LIEVERS!! This group of friendly churchgoers from First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Athens, GA are asking you to put a little faith in their spelling abilities as they take on their competitors.

The countdown to our Grown Up Spelling Bee is on, and it’s time to meet our next team. They are ready to put their spelling skills—and competitive spirit—to the test!

Today, we’re introducing The Bee-52s! The Bee-52's are buzzing with excitement to support Family Connection–Communities In Schools! As Team Visit Athens, Georgia, they're proud to partner with an organization that shares their commitment to making Athens an even better place to live, work, and thrive. While Visit Athens improves quality of life by growing tourism and supporting our local economy, FC-CIS does it by empowering students and strengthening families. Different missions, same goal—a stronger Athens for everyone.

They’re stepping up to compete, have some fun, and help raise funds to connect students, families, and residents with the resources and relationships they need to thrive. Want to cheer them on? Buy your ticket in honor of them or make a donation to support their fundraising efforts! 👏

The Grown Up Spelling Bee is coming! 🐝

On Sept. 11, teams will battle it out for spelling glory, bragging rights, and the coveted Top Speller trophy. Come cheer them on, enjoy a night of laughs and friendly competition, and support our work, all at once!

First up in our team spotlight: Golden Pantry Buttermilk Brainiacs! Robert, Sean and Katie are three colleagues who can confidently spell "biscuits" and "coffee," and are otherwise winging it for charity. Robert can recite every Golden Pantry store's opening date from memory, so the team's counting on that same steel-trap memory to carry them through round two. Sean has already mentally calculated the odds of the team surviving round two (not great). Katie's just here to make sure whatever happens gets a good photo for social media.

And they’re just the beginning! Over the next two weeks, we’ll introduce you to the six other teams competing for the title. You can support the your favorite team by purchasing your ticket in their team’s honor or making a donation directly to their fundraising page. Every dollar helps their team climb the leaderboard—and helps FC-CIS continue connecting our community!
