There'll be a lot of celebrating going on amongst their population in Aoraki/Mount Cook. But they won't be eating mallowpuffs!

BREAKING: The wrock wren wins 2022! The underbird is now the wonderbird, rocking the establishment, and the country. It's one for the history books folks!

It was a close battle all the way through with the kororā holding the most first preference votes right to the end, but the unflappable pīwauwau managed to grab the lead with most transferred votes. The hills are going to be alive tonight with the songs of the rock wrens.

Big Chungus sheltered in a tree right next to the DOC visitor centre office during yesterday's snowfall. Hopefully he'll get out and about in the bluebird day that has followed.
