Toastmaster Laura was awarded second place in the Area 52/Division E International Speech Contest. Although she will not advance to the Division level (unless the first-place winner is unable to attend), she's proud of the work she put in and the performance she gave. And she was very happy that her clubmates, Toastmasters Kay and Kathy, were there to cheer her on.

On Saturday, Toastmaster Laura will be competing in the Area International Speech Contest. The speech is about making connections while traveling by stepping out of your comfort zone to strike up a conversation. Impromptu speaking is taught and reinforced at Toastmasters meetings, but we don't always need to be self-referential in our speeches.

For Toastmaster Rob, Table Topics has been not only a great way to practice extemporaneous speaking skills, but also to gain insights from fellow members about subjects like "ideal flavor combinations” and “which state and national parks are worth a visit.” Join the conversation with the Early Risers Toastmasters Club! https://earlyrisers.toastmastersclubs.org/
